For screenplay? Nah. Hidden figures was good but the script isn't the star. And fences is a straight up translation of the play

That's why I wasn't too hung up on it. Great acting, but i've seen the James Earl Jones and I have the book/play. But with that acting, Denzel had this in the bag.

La La Land won every award it was supposed to. Unless Emma loses Best Actress, this has been a pretty predictable ceremony
