But in the context of the Oscar race, Birdman’s win seemed to cement its current and until recently unanticipated status as the front-runner for Best Picture. It has now won the top prizes from the DGA and the Producers Guild of America, as well as the SAG ensemble award. Separately, none of those wins is decisive; SAG, for instance, matches up with the Best Picture Academy Award winner only about half the time, and the PGA has missed four times since 2001. But put all three awards together and you have to go back to 1995 to find a movie — Apollo 13 — that swept them2 and still didn’t manage to cross the Oscar finish line

Birdman is clearly the front runner now. I'd be shocked if it didn't win in a couple weeks

i'ma be dancing in front of my tv with my birdman blu-ray in one hand and popcorn in the other

Dude, Linklater is an absolute for best director so its not even close...screenplay categories and best picture category are the 3 hardest imo

well.. according to the stats inarritu is a lock..

Over the last 66 years, the winner of the top prize at the DGA Awards went on to win the best director Oscar on all but seven occasions and his or her film went on to win the best picture Oscar on all but 14 occasions.

but i do have linklater as of now.

i think one of em will get best director and one of em will get best picture.

If Linklater loses this best director, it would be one of the biggest surprises in Oscar history since Crash won best pic imo...I want Inarritu or Miller to win it, but I don't know...you got me anticipating the show now
