I think I'm getting too old for this shyt. Not sure I have the mental energy to even break down 'art' films in a critical manner anymore.

Watched Birdman last night and loved everything about it from a creation standpoint, but in the end I just didn't think that the whole was as good as the sum of its parts.

Watched Boyhood and was not impressed at all.

Foxcatcher bored me to tears in the first half, I don't blame @track 1 for pulling an @track1 although the second half was much better

Whiplash is the only big Oscar movie I thought lived up to the hype so far. Still got lots to watch.

But honestly, I like 22 Jump Street and GuardiansOTG as much as any of them :yeshrug:

I think most of my energy for intelligent art goes towards music and TV. All these recent GOAT shows have me spoiled in terms of character development, and movies all feel rushed to me anymore.

Whats wrong with me

I feel the exact same way about birdman shyt was cool and all but the movie sucked. Boyhood was great for 45 mins then the lil fakkit grew up and it all went downhill from there

There's nothing wrong with favoring television shows. The slow burn in Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, True Detective, etc. is so :ohlawd: and like breh said the character development is crazy good.

Still, there's a lot of good movies out there. I thought Gone Girl was a beautifully made film. I hear the book was better but that's to be expected. Fincher's direction, the cinematography, it was so well done and the uneasy feeling it gives you throughout. :lupe:
