He's American too (born and raised) with a Swedish mother.

He really should be competing for Team USA :francis:

"Duplantis chose to compete for Sweden as it allowed him to catapult his pole vaulting career at a younger age because of fewer age restrictions in Sweden as compared to the US"

Your complaining is getting old. This has been a fantastic Olympics so far for the U.S. with many U.S. athletes winning medals in niche sports we typically don’t do well in. Winning bronze in men’s gymnastics is amazing. Athletics will set the table as always and we may even get a gold medal in men’s volleyball again. Chill out.

And your gaslighting has been old from the beginning. We're not talking about other sports, we're talking about swimming.

It has been an unmitigated disaster in the pool for Team USA at these Olympics. They'll finish with their lowest gold medal count in who knows how long. Also, the fact that no individual USA male has won gold in any other event yet is surprising.

Let's be frank though. America sets a super high standard. They haven't been there this year.

They are currently 5th (as ordered by gold) in the medal table after the first week.

Usually after the first week, America is second to China and then they take over in the second week.

Why? He gets treated like royalty in Sweden. He'd be just another guy in the US.
Why? He's American, that's why.

Also, being a world record breaker and Olympic gold medalist would make him a popular Olympic athlete in America. He would get tons of endorsements and commercials here.
