I predicted that Oneil Cruz will have a better season than Elly de la Cruz.

That's looking like a bad prediction.

Elly is on fire to start the year. Still, he strikes out at a 30% rate and I just don't know how you can remain successful with that kind of approach at the plate. At some point there has to be a regression....you would think.

Strikeouts don’t matter anymore with an emphasis on launch angle. As long as his obp is decent he’ll be ok

I'm starting to lose faith that Julio Rodriguez will develop into an elite hitter.

Sabermetrics guys love him but I just don't see him being that perennial .900 OPS player.

I guess a lot can happen though but this is worth monitoring.

He's pretty young still but Seattle gave him that extension too early

The brewers are in first place and have the best ERA in the NL but I imagine they would be even better with Corbin still in their rotation

Haven’t watch a ton of baseball in April so far. Surprised by Houston’s slow start. Dodgers heat up when the weather gets warmer. AL East is shaping up to be another dog fight

I think the AL East is a bit delicate because Tampa does not look like Tampa. I would be concerned that Yandy Diaz doesn't look even close to what he was last season. Neither does Arozarena. The miracle is that they're still a .500 team right now and they're expecting Shane Baz and Taj Bradley at some point midseason. I think Jeffrey Springs is further away.

Toronto is probably a little concerned with Kevin Gausman's slow start. But there's reason for hope with him. The bigger issue in my mind is that it's becoming clearer each day that 2021 was a fluke year for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. He's patient at the plate and he gets on base but this guy just hits rockets into the ground. He's not a 40 HR bat. Probably not even a 30 HR guy. Vlad is a guy who probably is Top 5 in grounding into double plays every year. And I think Toronto was really hoping he'd be the type of player that anchors an offense. Unless he turns it around in a major way or has a breakthrough 2025, I think the Blue Jays have to give serious consideration to trading him away while his value is still good. That would mean a team rebuild, in all likelihood, but so what? This team is fairly old (Bichette aside) -- and especially from a pitching perspective.

I would just say briefly about the Orioles -- it's looking like Gunnar Henderson is the straw that stirs the drink.
