One of the bad things about sabermetrics and analytics is that they can be implemented poorly or the wrong conclusions can be made from them.
From a hitting perspective the analytics tell us that hard hit balls have a high correlation to scoring or getting on base.
Where this can go wrong though, is when you teach players and prospects to try to hit the ball hard. You have to teach players how to hit, first.
You wouldn't tell a kid in Tee Ball: swing as hard as you can!! You teach them proper swing mechanics and balance and over time the power comes.
In the NFL, there's a correlation between completing the ball down the field and scoring. But you don't encourage quarterbacks to throw 25 Hail Marys each week. Similar idea.
It's frustrating to watch a guy swing out of his shoes and make contact once or twice in a 3 game series. It might be a home run. But he wasted so many at bats and opportunities.
