I think there’s uncertainty of the landscape of future college football. These kids are jumping in the portal left and right. We are entering a phase of having portal school and marquee schools will remain traditional. HS kids are not jumping to schools that are unproven. Deion is staying at CU for a good amount of time. He has added players with multiple year of eligibility and will slowly increase focus to HS recruiting over time.

I think we’re in a phase where the old thoughts are fighting with new thoughts of CFB. I don’t know if Prime strategy will work or not. I just think it’s disingenuous reporting that’s been going on since he took the job.

I think hs kids will always be the back bone of any program, i will agree on there is a paradigm shift in the usual program infrastructure,
But we’ve only seen this fail, with the exception of ole miss, but given ole miss don’t usually catch the big name kids the first go round i can understand (if you want in the sec with a good chance to start right away and some change in your pocket jump down in the sip) they still have a solid recruiting base

The takes will be on both ends of the extremes given Deion is a lightning rod for ratings, but you’d be hard pressed to see any media or coach say not going out in the field and getting to these kids is not bizarre, but where he draws ire is saying “oh I’m saving my university money”, it’s like come on now we know that’s not the deal, now if him not traveling allows him to pocket some or add it to nil or whatever, then i think folks would be like ok i see the vision

The University of Miami (Fla.) paid football coach Mario Cristobal $22.7 million in 2022, including $7.7 million in base pay and $14.9 million in “other reportable compensation,” according to a federal tax form released by the university Tuesday to USA TODAY sports.

This is the largest-ever, single-year amount for an athletics department employee on a tax form by a private university, according to USA TODAY Sports research. The university did not go into further detail about why he was paid that much except that it paid “gross-up payments” to Cristobal and others — payments that cover income taxes so that the recipient receives a set amount of pay.

Miami athletic director Dan Radakovich confirmed to USA TODAY Sports Wednesday that the $14.9 million in “other” pay for Cristobal included the $9 million buyout he owed to Oregon for breaking his coaching contract there to return to Miami, his alma mater. The gross-up pay on that accounts for the rest of the "other" pay, he said.
