To be 100% honest.. I really don’t think they want Pete back at all. I think they’re offering the 3yr deal for optics. And they’d be ok if he accepted it.
Completely agree, I think the offer is for PR to Mets fans. It's enough to say, "Hey, we tried to resign him." But also low enough in years specifically that they think Pete won't accept.

I was looking at a discussion online today about which of the two you would rather have?

Pedro or Randy Johnson.

1. If you could have one for one game, who are you taking?

2. If you could take one for a five year period, who are you taking?

3. If you had to lock one up for 10+ years, who are you taking?

I'm taking Randy Johnson for all 3 scenarios.

But this is like asking a parent which child do they love more. I really think there isn't a wrong answer.

I'm taking Randy because I think he's more likely to go deeper into games and pitch more innings in a season.

That’s kind of why it was a three part question. Seem like a lot would take Johnson for a long period of time, but for a short period of time, Pedro. Although, quite a few would still take Randy in all three scenarios.

Being able to eat innings and stay healthy seemed to tip in his favor.

I loved both of them. Probably my two favorite pitchers.

Yeah I can't argue that.

Pedro dominating the Yankees at Yankee Stadium and striking out 17 batters was one of the most amazing things I've seen in baseball in my life.
