Well then maybe he shouldn't have rejected that offer the Mets made earlier this year, and instead should have negotiated off that as a starting point. It was something like 150-160M.

All he needed was an average Pete season, and he would have gotten Freeman money, but he shyt the bed horribly.

43 home runs, .249/.339/.514 is his average. Instead he gave us 34 with .240/.329/.459. The man cost himself at least 50 million.

The Giants were turned down by Aaron Judge and Corbin Burnes despite offering more money.

Judge didn't take it because of his strong ties with the Yankees.

Burnes apparently didn't take it because of taxes and Arizona being his home.

Still, it looks bad that a big market like San Francisco can't attract bigger stars. Maybe it's a tax issue. Maybe they're not deep enough as a roster. Maybe it's a problem with the city's culture or cost of living. Whatever it is, the Giants seem to have a problem.

:ehh:
Ok D backs and not bad Mr Burnes.

I get off my flight from Vegas a little while ago and this is one of the first alerts on my phone. :francis::comeon::martin:

I mean, I'm not surprised - he's a West coaster, Boras client, probably wants to get out of a tough (and likely tougher next year) division. Still, it was great having a legit ace, even if it was just for a season.

Elias and co. are gonna have to start getting creative. Options drying up, and a broken-down Justin Verlander won't be it.
