The Mets deferred Bonilla salary til 2035 :pachaha:

5.9 million with 8% interest will end up being 30 million

they paid WAY more dough doing that
Hall of Fame Agent work right there. I'd laugh more but the O's also owe Bobby 500K a year until 2028. (Been paying him since 2004)
And they will still have Chris Davis on the books until 2038.

Exactly.

Rubenstein acting just like the Angelos spend the money man

:damn:
Yeah I feel like most Baltimore fans would be perfectly content with just resigning Burnes and they go sign a 45 year old Japanese guy no one’s fukking heard of lol.

The O's blogs and O's reddit/twitter are trying to spin that signing like it's 4D chess to get Roki, but they don't even know each other/ have a bond like that.

:unimpressed:

Just sign Burnes even if you gotta overpay him. Do something anything, we can't waste this window and hoarding all our prospects.

The O's haven't won or been to the World Series since Cal motherfukkin Ripken was a ROOKIE!!!!

The man set the all time consecutive Games played Record!!! AND NEVER went back to the World Series.

My Dad shows me an autographed ball, he's got pictures, says we were there when I was a got damn infant!!!

I'm

:flabbynsick::flabbynsick::flabbynsick::old::old::old:

That's how long it's been. I'm old enough that when I was living in Missouri during High School. I could have easily crossed Matt Holliday in a Travel/Legion ball tournament. His son is the O's prize prospect.

I still can't believe they didn't go after Skubal at the deadline. Detroit wasn't dangling him out there but the team was playing god-awful and they for sure would have listened to an offer if the O's were serious.

If they really wanted to go balls to the wall, they could re-sign Burnes, trade for Cease AND trade for Vladdy. Their payroll commitments are so pitiful the next 4+ years they could easily afford it.

I'm not even an O's fan and it's frustrating as fukk to me.

Hypothetically, let's say the impossible happened and all their prospects panned out...they wouldn't be able to sign everybody long-term so they'd still have to trade some of them down the road. Just do it now and try to win it all.

I was a fool for agreeing with them on not stacking the deck to get Skubal. But I accept that. I was a clown. We have Skubal now I'm not even stressing. I'd still want us to sign Burns or make a trade for an arm like Cease. But, I wouldn't be stressing that we're wasting a valuable window.

I think Elias problem is that most of the 2017 Astros were all home grown. In a similar vein the 2015 Royals of Destiny were also home grown. These same Royals killed one of the best O's teams in 2014. I get believing in your farm getting you there. But, when in doubt pull the got damn trigger!!!

Just found this Playlist on MLB youtube and was a fun watch. A bunch of fun things to see and names you forgot about.

Freddy Garcia, Aaron Sele pitched 7 innings even, Rusty Greer, a Todd Zeile sighting and then Butch Husky got a pinch hit appearance and it reminded me of this :russ:

That’s buehler’s motivation, sure, but this doesn’t benefit the Red Sox long term
I'm saying he shouldn't/wouldn't sign a contract with a team option if it was offered. Manaea got 3/75, right? That's like 5 mil more AAV. For Beuhler to lock himself in for 2 years and forgo that last year/25 mil, he would've probably needed 30 a year. That would be a wild number to give him off this past season. So do the deal for 20 and either work out a deal in the offseason or you get a pick after the QO, which is about the same as the team option would be if he signed it. And if he's not good enough for a QO, he wouldn't be good enough for the team option and this is all a moot point anyway

TLDR: bounceback bet on themselves-type guys don't sign team option contracts

The old saying in the Dominican Republic was that you can't walk off the island -- meaning -- be aggressive and swing the bat.
That's not true anymore given that teams recognize how valuable getting on base is.

Venezuela isn't an island but Ezequiel Tovar must really believe the old saying.
A 3.3% walk percentage looks like a misprint but that's what it was in 2024.
