You can better your program this way. But building thru high school recruiting is still the best eay to stack talent and develop players.

However if you have a hole, the portal can provide just the right player sometimes.

Obviously it's best to recruit from HS but these guys basically created an entirely new team from last season
You can't just recruit 70+ HS players and field out an all Freshman team
They needed some sophs and juniors to win now
