1¢ can't throw a bunch of cats on the floor that all think they going pro & win

teamwork makes the dreamwork

The players didn't do anything worth criticizing. The story of the game is the officiating. If they called the first half, they way they called the second half, there'd be no beef. Like the Baylor game, they swung it for the one seed.

His frame doesn’t look like it’ll handle weight well.

Who will he guard? Too slow for the wing, too skinny for the paint. Might end up being an empty calories player.
He’s 19 years old. He’s going to get bigger as he gets older.

He will be able to guard most 5s because of his insane wingspan and he is quick. Offensively they won’t be able to guard him. He will probably play PF to start like Mobley in CLE.

The kid has an insane skill level. This is NOT the Pokushevski kid in OKC we talking about.

It is what it is :yeshrug:

Next season team isn't going to be near as good as this one. :francis:

Unless Penny pull off another recruiting miracle.

I think people just really wanted Penny to win this one. He had the team to do it. Might have the most natural talent than any team in the country.

It was a winnable game and he's watching Dandridge barely running, yet waiting for media timeouts. Maddening. And Dandridge played well in his minutes, but once he was winded, he was walking up and down the floor and hurting the team.

Penny should’ve went offense-defense with Harris and Nolley especially late. I also would’ve went zone a few possessions in a row to mix up looks and get guys legs back.

At the end of the day it was a 9 seed hampered by all three big men having 4 fouls for most of the second half against the first overall seed in the tournament. Penny deserves a lot of credit.

not to mention he had like two under 6 foot pgs playing phenomenal on the biggest stage against a 1 seed

and no real shooters (emoni contributed a little)

people in this thread obviously didn’t watch the entire game

this Memphis team made Penny look good tonight

chet stock definitely dropped however

He's doing as well as can be expected with only 4 years college coaching experience. As long as he keeps recruiting at a high level Memphis can keep making the Tournament.

He just needs a better offensive system. Whenever you see Memphis practicing they never run any plays it's all about defense. Unless you just gonna recruit

I thought everyone could comeback except Lomax?

He just needs to concentrate on recruiting upperclassmen from the transfer portal. Forget all these freshmen who aren't ready yet like Bates.

Top 4
if kelvin sampson coached this team, and penny coached houston...i can guarantee houston wouldnt even be in the tourney right now and memphis would have won thsi game

memphis was supposed to be a good team this year. they have a bunch of experienced guards and added Duren (and Bates but we know how that turned out)

penny wont ever do shyt at memphis

emoni bates = bust

I’m not worried about his offence, I’m worried about his defence. I just don’t see him being able to guard effectively in the NBA. He will get his share of blocked shots but he’s also gonna get bodied in the paint or blown by on the perimeter. Time will tell of course but I’m sceptical. Then again, I didn’t think Mobley would be anything special but I was really wrong about that.
