UGA defense was better in the trenches last year and got absolutely torched when they finally played a good offense

OSU been soft with a bad defense for a while now

Yeah, OSU has to get tougher in the trenches. That can't be denied now.

Even though Bama has more spread elements, yall still recruit the trenches. It was more of an even battle because of that vs UGA.

Losing Metchie and Jamison in back to back games was what did yall in (still incredible how you lose BOTH of your stud wide receivers vs the same team).

Because the scales tipped TOO FAR in one direction (read option/spread). Made dominating the trenches not as important leading to "softer" linemen. Those teams that prioritize the trenches have a mismatch vs those that don't and you see what you see with UGA and Michigan. There's something with just punishing people up front and daring you to stop it. Test that manhood. And since many schools have gotten away from that physicality, those that embrace it have an edge.

Exactly, I was talking with my Unc who's from Michigan and we both came to the conclusion, UGA and Michigan are mirror images of each other and the type of teams they are takes a while to hits it stride cause it's a philosophy change and if Michigan got the talent that Ohio State got in terms of value, they'd be Georgia.

We were fine physically. Them nikkas had 10 yards rushing in the 1st half. Db’s kept getting cooked and it all just fell apart. Penalties and just being undisciplined had a lot to do with it to.

You guys were bringin 7,8,9 guys all first half, and you held us in check. Problem is, you kept doing it in the third. Forced us to throw. When we did, your corners were caught in islands with single safety help. Then when you went more traditional, we carved y’all up.

I would have Bama and OSU over USC even if USC won.

It doesn’t matter at this point. OSU doesn’t belong in the playoffs after Saturday. Can’t let the game get away like that especially at home. Got a lot to work on for next year. Hopefully finish out this year’s recruiting class strong, and get some young players some experience the bowl game.

So should the playoffs be based more on "deserving" or the "best team(s)"

USC and TCU deserve to make it but we agree they're not better than Bama and OSU.....

Saturday was not a day to remember for Brent Venables and the Oklahoma football program.
In short, OU will need to go somewhere around 8-4 or 9-3 next year for Venables to realistically get a third season.
