You're down three goals against the Lightning with about eight minutes left in the game. You just had a PP that sucked, and now you have another PP. You couldn't get pressure on the first one. You needed to pull him there and go 6-4 and get some possession and chances. Terrible decision.

The NHL hasn't adopted to the times either. There's next to no promotion of the league's superstars in the US and they haven't adjusted the rules enough for more free flowing play. There's still clutching, grabbing and constant cheap shots. The average score (3 goals a game) is the same now as when the Devils ruined the league with the trap zone 25 years ago.

The heyday of the league was the 80s when there was about 4 goals per game. The league should want their superstars like MacKinnon, McDavid, Draisaitl, etc. pushing 150+ points again. That is exciting.

Some of it's coaching because just about everyone is so conservative. It would be a lot more fun if every team in the league was always pushing the pace like Vegas.

You think Bettman being a Stern disciple would’ve been smart enough to use his playbook, but hasn’t. I’m hoping the next commissioner is a young, smart, progressive person who modernizes the thinking and execs in the NHL League office. Too many incompetent folks like Colin Campbell.
