They won't be getting any ticket sale or concession loot for a 2020 season. So they are strictly paying players based on the TV deals they have and whatever they have saved. It is a money loser for them. But yeah they should just chalk it up to a positive PR cost and give the people some sports to watch. If there is no season they will get more of the blame than the players. Even so, if they do wait until 2021 I belive no one will hold a grudge about no 2020 season.

You're putting a lot of faith in the owner's claims.

I'm not taking their word that a no-fan season is a "biblical" money loser. The TV and MLBAM deals are enormous.
I know the NFL teams turn a profit just from their TV deals I never heard that about MLB teams so it stands to reason if their other revenue streams are unavailable they will lose money. I doubt the losses are some astronomical figure but still.

Only profits you'll hear about at all are from the Braves, since they're owned by a public company. Everybody else's books are closed. I believe the problem for the owners is that they won't make *enough* money and want more

Whatever the case I think they should reopen and do a shortened season just for PRs sake.

I'm just saying I'm not taking the owners at their word. I also think they're using this crisis to establish a new normal and influence the next CBA.
