Kimbrel wants to be a closer. If he accepted a SU role, I think there'd be a lot more interest. With that said I don't know how Van Wagenen ignores the pen any longer. Familia and Bashlor have a 6.65 and 5.12 ERA respectively. Gagnon has a 4.75 and Gsellman with a 3.71.
The bullpen has lost leads of three or more six times already this season with losing the games outright twice this week alone. They should have won at least four games on this trip before Sundays game. Coming back to NY 2-5/3-4 is unacceptable seeing how those games played out.

Which is why this deal is indefensible. Even in the year he had 50+ saves, it didn't come easy for him. It never has. His playing style is erratic and you hope for the best when he's in. I was happy when he was gone and frustrated when he was brought back at the AAV he got. Brodie literally dealt against himself.

MLB Draft is today and it seems from the mock drafts that the Mets are definitely going pitcher. The ones that I've read this morning have them picking Zack Thompson out of Kentucky at 12. He has some issues with his medicals. He went 6-1 with a 2.40 ERA in 14 appearances this season.
