Selig and Manfred are pals with the Wilpons. Couldn't force them to sell like McCourt and the Dodgers

Yes they could have. They participated in a federal crime and could have been forced to sell because they were damaging the image of the league, benefiting from a multi billion dollar federal/financial crime among others. We've seen owners keep their teams for incompetence. That isn't a reason to sell their team despite us wanting them to.

If you’re committed to a rebuild, you don’t let a star SS walk for nothing(Reyes), nor do you keep a superstar(Wright) who’s prime is almost up.

If you’re committed to winning, you don’t pass on signing premier FA’s who fill your needs(Harper; Machado, Keuchel, Kimbrel).

The Wilpons never go all in at all. You either go all in to win it or all in for a rebuild. I go back to early 2010's, the Mets, cubs, and astros were all in the same boat. The Cubs and Stros both completely tore it down, we did the usual Wilpon half measure. Yeah we were the first to get to a world series but the Cubs and Stros each have actually won a World Series and both teams have been in contention since 2015, while all we had was a 2 year window. But close enough is good enough for the Wilpons

Because it's starting to set in with fans that's this is going to set the franchise back for years. The Cano traded really hit the farm by giving away our best prospect outside Alonso but will financially cripple the team for the next 5 years. And Cano isn't going to get better, he's going to get worse. And as long as the Wilpons own this team, no Frank Cashen type GM is going to come in and clean up this mess. The Mets are about the enter a late 70's early 90's level of bad.

Third year running that this team is out of it by the second month of the season.

Yeah I'm already giving up, sue me :manny:

I'd give anything to go back to 1999 when the Mets were a bunch of journeymen + Piazza and made the NLCS :to:

There are times where I completely forget that Cespedes is on this team.

For a long time I gave the owners a pass and thought we were 1-2 players away from making a run, but I'm with you brehs, these owners just have to go. This team will never be successful with them in charge.
