They had their chances and pissed it away. Could have tied Chicago for the first out of the WC. A Brewers win puts them 4.5 GB with 8 games left. McNeil was especially bad today and it summed up his second half. He's gone away from what got him to the major leagues.
Don't want to hear that Wilson and Lugo can't be perfect all of the time. Against batters like Jedd Gyorko and Christian Colon, you need to send them back to the dugout. They're not exempt from criticism.

Our offense and pitching is good, it's the pen that's the problem.
Spend money on a reliever, try to compete for another year or two before the inevitable rebuild.

Mookie is a superstar, but Nimmo and Conforto are very good. I don't think JD is that good of a hitter, but the three of them will net at least 8 WAR together next year if healthy.
Just spend 15-20 mil to get Chapman, and the Mets are a legit threat to win the NL East.

We'd need TWO more rotation guys, because we all know Wheelers not coming back. Also, I don't think Cespedes plays another inning for the Mets.. ever. So Nimmo can go to left and platoon with JD Davis. Mookie would be in center with Conforto in right.
We'd need more than Chapman to fix the bullpen.. plus I agree. I don't think he's going anywhere.
