Who's the average person? That average person might listen to country and if they do, they know her.

Why are you trying not to understand my point? :dwillhuh:

Country is not the most popular genre in America. It's not full of superstars with mainstream hits. Kacey Musgraves is not a household name compared to people like Cardi B and Drake. Golden Hour wasn't this widespread album that everybody was talking about.

Just because it was critically acclaimed, doesn't mean it was a smash with mainstream America. The average person might know who Kacey Musgraves is if they listen to country (an obvious qualifier), but none of her songs are on the same level as something like "Sicko Mode" or "I Like It" or "God's Plan."

Unless they are and I'm missing something. :yeshrug:

No, I agree with this. Your logic is why I preferred Post Malone to win. The Grammys don't solely factor in popularity though. Awards like the Billboard awards or American Music Awards are more popularity based.

Family. Cut it out. When pop stars win it's because of their popularity. When Rock or Country win it's critical acclaim. The Grammys award whichever white friendly artist they want to every year. You guys are out here arguing your subjective opinions instead of just looking at plain inconsistency.

And country music is "huge" among white certain demographics of white people. Hip Hop and pop are clearly more universal if we're going that route. Taylor Swift literally could not tour Europe until she went pop. Grammys are supposed to be the best music worldwide. Cut the bullshyt.

The Grammys basically went "woke" this year and then ended it off by giving it to a woman because last year people complained about not enough of them in the main category. If there was ever a year where a dude should have won when music was dominated by men sans Cardi....this was it.
this is really wrong man.

Pop country is what runs country music on TV.
Its the same game for all genres.

Which is why im not sure why yall get so hot and bothered about this shyt.

CBS News asks: What is America's favorite music genre?
Country and rock are America's favorite music genres, according to a recent CBS News Poll. With country registering as the favorite for 21% of poll respondents and rock 18%, the three-percent difference is within the poll's margin of error.
They are followed by popular music (14%), classical (10%), R&B or soul (9%), hip hop or rap (7%), jazz (7%), and Christian or gospel music (5%).

The difference is that country music swings to a older crowd, and hip hop has a younger demographic.

Advertisers target the younger demo hard because when youre young you spend a lot of time/money in music.

The older you get, the less you give a fuk about the hot new thing.

Which is why it may seem like hip hop is the most popular music...because corporations are going after the young crowd because they spend stupid money.

WTF are you talking about? Please explain what you think I meant because I don't want to be insulting but I'm 100% right to such a degree that there is no credible basis to disagree. And I'm all for disagreements. Not a single thing I said is not statistically and historically verifiable. So I would take a deep breath and read again. BTW, I don't care who won this year. I didn't see a clear winner. I was just telling dudes to cut that bullshyt out about using the critcally acclaimed argument when it didn't work for Kendrick, Frank Ocean, Beyonce, D'Angelo, etc. And "pop country" has nothing to do with touring worldwide.

1. Ed Sheeran
2. Taylor Swift
3. Beyoncé and Jay-Z
4. Bruno Mars
5. Pink
6. Justin Timberlake
7. U2
8. The Rolling Stones
9. Kenny Chesney
10. Journey & Def Leppard
11. Eagles
12. Drake
13. Depeche Mode
14. Foo Fighters
15. Celine Dion
16. Billy Joel
17. Luke Bryan
18. Luis Miguel
19. Harry Styles
20. Dead & Company
21. Andre Rieu
22. Elton John
23. Shania Twain
24. Trans-Siberian Orchestra
25. Jay-Z

There are literally two country artists on this list and then pop stars, old rockers and Drake and Hov (twice). Stop it fam. If you break that down the only contemporary artists on there are Timberlake, Hov, Beyonce, Drake, Bruno, Sheeran and Swift. But go ahead and tell me how country is more popular than hip hop and pop worldwide and how anyone making that sort of argument isn't an idiot.

I responded to you saying when someone in Country wins its because of crtical acclaim.

What exactly is your point here?
The Grammys are not about world wide appeal...they are about the U.S. (which is why they have global categories).

Country music is a uniquely American genre...why would they be able to tour the world?

Anyway, what does touring have to do with anything?

We found something to agree on. :ehh:

The Grammys definitely isn't just about who sold the most records or has the most appeal with young adults. I just think their process is very transparent. It's easy for them to give Best Rap Album to Cardi B while giving Album of the Year to someone that has all the critical acclaim. Except in cases where it's a genre they don't have a lot of respect for (DAMN. having won a Pulitzer Prize, but not Album of the Year).

They surveyed 1,000 random people and got this response. It doesn't mean anything to me. I could do the exact same thing and prove that the biggest genre in the country is rock. But rock music isn't on top of the charts and being streamed more times than any other genre. This survey just proves that out of this sample of a thousand people, country is the most preferred.

And to add to that, the majority of people who were polled were at least 65 and white. I guess country's really hot out there in the streets. :troll:
