Receiver Eddie McDoom leaves Michigan after 'fun journey'

Junior receiver Eddie McDoom has left the Michigan football team.

Michigan football spokesman Dave Ablauf confirmed Wednesday evening that McDoom has "decided to leave the team." The Wolverine Lounge first reported the news.

McDoom, whose name delighted Michigan fans — they'd chant, "Dooooooom" when he'd touch the ball — had 16 catches for 140 yards and 24 rushing attempts for 203 yards during his career.

He shared his thoughts on his Instagram account Wednesday, thanking Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh for the opportunity with the Wolverines. He thanked his teammates, coaches and friends.

“It has been a fun journey that would not be forgotten,” McDoom wrote. “I will be continuing my journey elsewhere but will miss the Michigan family. Thank you for the love !! Go Blue!”
