Jamaicans are simply producing better sprinters and that's where the discussion should end. Jamaica has a population the size of Chicago and thus a much smaller talent pool than the U.S.

Who said they weren't better??

I said the USA has better athletes than what ran in that relay race. They just play other sports.

You also have to take in account that football gets 85 scholarships in college while track only has 12.6. All 85 aren't sprinters but you can bet a lot of guys get discouraged by the lack of track scholarships.

That is the big thing the scholarships. Some schools don't even invest in their track program cause it ain't the school money maker. Take Oklahoma state their track team sucks and the school doesn't invest in it because it isn't a money maker. So they don't get the best track stars.

But that school still gets blue chip players to go there for football. American kids as a whole only look at track as a way to get a scholarship not to make money.

Now football and basketball black kids look at it as a way out and a way to take care of their family.

Now in Jamaica those kids probably look at track and soccer as a way out and a way to take care of their family.

It is all about opportunities. Take the DR that country produces hell a fied baseball players. But bet cash money they could produce some hell a fied football players if the money was invested in that sport and kids thought of it as a way out.

Those Jamaican relay athletes look like potential ball players to me in the tunnel compared to the US athletes. I'd pick that team off of looks alone, in the tunnel. They're bigger, they're faster, and stronger. That's the way it works in the U.S. for sports, the big, fast, and strong get plucked up for other sports.

Exactly and what field is gonna make you the biggest money the fastest.

I mean how many big ass dudes who play basketball never liked sport. But played cause they were big and it would get them into the league.

If tomorrow american track and field was handing out 40 mill signing bonuses with 100 mill contracts or 140 mill guaranteed contracts best believed that elite talent would increase immensely.

Ton of kats would be turning down football and basketball (with their parents help) to run track.

It depends on how you qualify "better athletes".

Is LeBron James a better athlete than Usain Bolt? Arguable. Is he faster than Usain Bolt? Heck no. Someone as explosive as Westbrook isn't as fast as the 100m national record holder from Fiji or even Dafne Schippers.

How the hell did Japan place 2nd? :heh:

Asuka "Aska" Antonio Cambridge is a Japanese track and field sprinter who competes in the 100 metres and 200 metres. He is a two-time East Asian Games gold medallist and a relay bronze medallist at the World Junior Championships in Athletics. Wikipedia

Then you are making a moot point and still won't qualify what makes someone a "better athlete" in your opinion.
