Kyrie Irving Could Be Out Until January

The rehabilitation of Kyrie Irving from a fractured kneecap is going smoothly, but he is almost certainly not going to be ready for the Cleveland Cavaliers' opener on Oct. 27.

Irving could remain out until January.

Irving underwent surgery in early June with an expected recovery time of three to four months.

The Cavaliers want to bring him back slowly without risking a setback, with the goal of being at full strength entering the playoffs.

Yeah, just call that post allstar break, I don't think anybody ever comes back in January just to head back on break.

Haynes is spitballing.

Kyrie doesn't have a timetable for return. The Cavs expect him back way before that but he has be assessed before knowing what plan of course to take. He hasn't experienced any setbacks so he could still theoretically come back shortly before the season starts. There's just no real urgency to push him back on the court.
