Steph and Klay have entire gameplans against them. Barnes is literally just some guy that you have to guard.Even Steph had a bad game in the finals. Klay stunk up the joint. Didn't matter. He came through when it mattered.
You can say that about any 3rd fiddle on a good team.Steph and Klay have entire gameplans against them. Barnes is literally just some guy that you have to guard.
But he's not even 3rd fiddle. He's like... 4th or even 5th, sometimes 6th if Draymond or Livingston feel good that particular day. If Barnes was doing his job, David Lee would've probably never seen the court in the finals at all.You can say that about any 3rd fiddle on a good team.
HB spaces the floor, is an elite athlete, and is still getting better. He's an average defender but he fits the system perfectly. But he's not even 3rd fiddle. When you can say that "If _____ was replaced by Matt Barnes, would my team be better or worse?" and you can't IMMEDIATELY say better, you need an improvement at 3.
At what? Serious question. He's just a stronger version of the same player he was back in high school.HB spaces the floor, is an elite athlete, and is still getting better. He's an average defender but he fits the system perfectly.

He got stronger. He creates space easier now that he's got a filled out NBA body.Shooting. Rebounding.

He hasn't improved a single notable thing in his skillset since high school. His ballhandling is still trash, he can't create his own offense, he has zero post skills, his shot selection is entirely passive and dependent on whatever offense he's in, he's barely a decent passer, he can't run the break, he's still stiff defensively -
all while having all the physical tools he needs to be an all-star
I'm not calling him a bust, but he's gonna get paid more than Demarre Carroll and the team that does it is gonna feel stupid
Okay. Most people disagree with that.
Its not even a comparison anymore. I'm watching games where MKG is literally guarding 3 people at once and this is with Lance Stephenson's WOAT SG season, Kemba "I just got paid " Walker's defensive houdini act, Al Jefferson aka The Human Layup Line, and Marvin Williams the 8 of clubs of all trades. If he was on actual good defensive team like GS, opposing guards would just kill themselves at the half-court line. MKG and Iguodala? Suicide is the only option.Harrison Barnes was drafted into a bad situation. Had he went to the Cavs like he was supposed to, he would've been forced to develop and improve with a sense of urgency. MKG literally does everything well except shoot. Good rebounder, decent passer, tough and a superb defender. If he develops a shot, we're looking at a poor man's Kawhi. Barnes is just...

That's why I'm hyped for next year. Batum and MKG
