Okafor will be solid but yeah Flip is going to botch this.

I actually don't think this draft will be like last years where the dropoff between 1 and 2 is gigantic. I'm pretty sure Okafor will be similar to Demarcus Cousins. dominant scoring low post big. 20-25ppg consistently. he can't carry a team by himself but can be a form a great one-two punch with the right player. thats good enough to be the #1 pick in almost any draft. Karl Anthony Towns just got the higher ceiling. He can be LaMarcus Aldrige on offense and Dwight Howard on defense. But he could also be just a slightly bigger Al Horford. I'm less sure about him but I'm willing to take the risk.

And if Thibodeau wanted the job Taylor would accommodate him, there's already reports floating that Tommy boy is interested.

Watching teams sag 8 feet off him when he doesn't have the ball is just disturbing.
You're really overestimating Taylor at this point. He's as senile as he looks.

Okafor is going to be good, but he's going to need a PF next to him and the Wolves aren't a very good fit for him because of the fact they have a gang of dudes that can't shoot 3s yet.

You can't draft Okafor, and then decide to keep Rubio, he's not like Pekovic who is a PnR big that can play off Rubio, he's a low post guy you run offense through. They would need to get rid of Rubio, Muhammad and Dieng almost immediately.
I don't see that being something that should give anyone pause though...If anything Minny needs a guy like Okafor who is a reliable scorer.

Rubio needs to go anyway, Shabazz can either come off the bench or be packaged, and I would give Dieng a shot to see how plays with Jah or package him too. They also have Adrien Payne and Bennett, both of whom would mesh well with Jah offensively.

Guys can be moved or they can draft for shooters and big defenders next year. The only untouchable is Wiggins. Even with Towns they aren't any closer to contention.

A Wiggins and Okafor duo could be devastating with more pieces. Drafting Jah wouldn't be a mistake imo.

So draft Okafor, trade everyone else but Wiggins, wait til 2032. Got it.

Thibs is a legacy coach for yall, I think old man Taylor would do it :yeshrug:

But the real question, would you want those young ACLs and MCLs exposed to Thibs?
Given that Flip ran Wiggins into the ground despite Wiggins complaining about his knees near the end of the season, not sure if you want Wiggins exposed to this either.

i think Okafor to Wolves would be smarter than Towns. Jah would give them that go to scorer they need while towns provides jack of all trades assets. Like when the spurs cant score or other team goes on a run they dump it to timmy and he just methodically throws up a boring shot that goes in.

Say if the Knicks take Winslow, is it safe to say this is how 4-11 will look?

Knicks: Winslow
Magic: Porzingis/Hezonja
Kings: Mudiay
Nuggets: Porzingis/Hezonja
Pistons: Stanley
Heat: Oubre/Booker
Pacers: WCS

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?

:wtf:
No way Stan goes with Frank over Kristaps.

The problem is that Flip won't do that, he's not going to trade away all those guys and he's not going to build a team around Okafor that can shoot.

The Lakers have a history of knowing how to build around post players, Jahlil is more likely to reach his ceiling with them because they'll build around him properly.

Okafor would get them contending sooner than Towns. With Towns you have to develop his game, figure out his strengths and weaknesses, then adjust the roster. They can draft Jahlil now and know what direction to take the team.

I'm not saying trade everyone, but you don't worry about fit with a roster that produced the worst record in the league and has been a basement dweller for a decade.

That... I can agree with. I'm just saying I understand Flip's reasoning. But fans like Tre don't want another rebuild even though they just got back to back back #1 picks on their team. It's time to move past the Rubio/Pek era and focus on Wiggins and probably Okafor.

That's not entirely true, the issue with them is that one of them is perceived as a two way player with similar offensive potential, while the other guy is a one way player. Look at the Kings and Pelicans for an example, they have the elite two way player while the Kings have an elite offensive player and it's more difficult to build around him as a result. With Towns you're just going to need a basic 5 that can rebound and guard his position, with Okafor and the direction the NBA is moving you'll have to find a defensive PF that can make the 3 to play next to him and currently there's really only 1 of those in the league.

That... I can agree with. I'm just saying I understand Flip's reasoning. But fans like Tre don't want another rebuild even though they just got back to back back #1 picks on their team. It's time to move past the Rubio/Pek era and focus on Wiggins and probably Okafor.

They have to get rid of Rubio/Pek regardless of who they pick, but they should go with Towns because of what they already have on the roster. You could play him next to Dieng, which is something you won't be able to do with Okafor.
