Ed Reed was a 2-star undersized, under recruited kid in a era where those types of kids fell threw the cracks. Today's age the recruiting sites are much better at identifying those kids and ranking them accordingly. So that's not a good example breh.

LSU's uptick started with Kevin Faulk staying instate and grinding for 4 years building that program upwards. Those HS kids saw that and LSU became cool again. By the time Saban got there in '99 their record might not have showed it but the talent was there.

LSU has always been a sleeping giant in CFB because it's the only school that matters in a state full of blue chip HS players. Arky doesn't have that advantage.
:stopitslime: Arkansas might not have what Louisiana has but that's not the only way to have an elite program. They can steal 4 stars players from LA, TN, TX, Missouri and keep they're talented players instate and compete 4 years ago Arkansas was the 3rd best team in the SEc

Look at the bolded... .Tradition>>> It basically means that a part of that state's culture is committed to that team's success...... That's what makes a good program.......... See, a lot of what you guys are seeing now are politics and capitalism awarding certain schools because of "tradition"

College football is smoke and mirrors man... There is nothing transparent or sportsmanlike about it....
I see what you are getting at but I disagree to a certain extent. You are talking about the elements that can make a program good. All that can be n place but if they don't take advantage...............

When you say taking adavantage of these elements...... Are you willing to say that UofMIA is a bad program?

Arkansas nabs some Oklahoma players like Felix Jones, but moe often than not the stars have to align for them, in-state. And the state of Arkansas isn't routinely putting out McFadden's and Peyton Hillis type talents.

That's literally how you become an Elite program. They brought in 18 4-5 stars since '12 and never finished higher than 9th in the SEC. They don't have the base or the history to justify living in Arkansas for 4 year.

Even when Bobby P had that program at its height they still weren't recruiting a a higher level to be elite. Because why the fukk would you go to Arkansas when Bama,USC, Ohio State want you.
