Recruiting Classes mean shyt to me bruh, everybody has good to great recruits

yet somehow the last 3 national champs have had a top 5 recruiting class at least 2 years before they win the natty. :mjpls:

recruiting matters. there is a reason alabama, florida state, and ohio state are always in the national title conversation. its because they're top 5 in recruiting year in year out. Ole Miss went from SEC doormat to top 3 in the country last season at one point because of their stellar 2013 recruiting class. to act like recruiting at an elite level is NOT NECCESARY to winning a national title is being blind to reality. never said it was SUFFICIENT. but you need to be at a top 5-10 level recuriting for 2-3 years if you wanna seriously challenge for the national title.

its one of the reasons Oregon has not won a national title the last 5 years eventhough they get gassed up each season. they've never recruited at that super elite level to where they can beat the likes of Ohio State or Auburn in national title games. their gimmick offense has gotten them this far because the Pac12 has been down. Once USC gets off sanctions, they'll be back to dominating and Oregon will be back to being an afterthought.

recruiting is the single most important ingridient to winning a national title. just like great drafting is the single most important ingridient to winning the superbowl.

When Tennessee takes the field vs LSU/Bama/Florida/UGA/OU, recruiting doesn't matter because the playing fields are even. It comes down to coaching & developing that talent. Ron Zook & Charlie Weis were great recruiters, look where it got em

OU has been around 15th in recruiting the last 3 years. Butch is up there in the top 5 the last 2 years with Bama, OSU, and FSU. We'll have more talent than OU when we play them this season. the only position they might have us beat is RB (if Mixon is what they say he is) and the OL. but even then it'll only be by the slightest of margins cause Jalen Hurd and Alvin Kamara were 5 star recruits themselves when we got them.

we'll be better at QB with Dobbs.
we're deeper than them at WR. (Marquez North, Von Pearson, Pig Howard, Josh Malone, 5 star true fresmen Preston Williams)
our DL is better (Barnett, Maggit, and the #1 rated player in the 2015 class according to scout.com DT Kahlil McKenzie)
LBs are equal (Jalen Reeves Maybin is a stud)
our secondary is better (Cam Sutton...nuff said)

5th in recruiting > 15th bruh. oklahoma is in the rear view mirror as far as i'm concerned. only 1 team will exceed us in talent next season (Alabama). we'll be equivalent to Georgia and possibly Florida (if they play up to their ability).

Breh stop with the damn recruiting talk, if recruiting mattered that much then wouldn't have got yall ass whooped so many times last season

They beat yall by 3 TDs in a down year, how are yall all of a sudden better than OU

Development?

Edit: also the Tennessee team you saw at the beginning of the season was substantially better than the one at the end. Not to mention Dobbs didn't play that OU game.

we were only dominated by two opponents last year (Oklahoma and Ole Miss). both were w/o dobbs. both were early in the season. and even then, both games were close in the first half. separation only occured in the 3rd quarter. we lost by 1 point to florida and 3 points on the road to Georgia. both w/o dobbs as well. I could easily make the argument that if Dobbs was playing from day 1, we would've been 9-4 last season.

plus you know that relying on true freshmen, no matter how talented, doesn't lead to Ws. the thing that should scare you is all those true freshmen we started last season (most in college football) are now sophomores with alot of experience. Jalen Hurd, Derek Barnett, Josh Malone, Todd Kelly Jr. those will be household names next year. all were highly recruited, they started/played siginificant roles last season and look like future studs.

I see what Swag is saying about recruiting but a lot of these recruits don't even pan out. We've already lost two four stars and a five star from our #2 class a couple of years ago

TN's getting super hyped this season like they did Dooley's last season before they bottomed out.

Difference is Dooley team was undisciplined and the defense was :trash:

At least Butch built up a key part of a true SEC defense, the D-line.

Tennessee got one of the toughest D-line in the Nation. Barnett, Maggitt, Vereen, McKenzie, Tuttle. Depth and strength.
