I'm a democrat but I also feel as a parent it is my responsibility to plan for my child's education. If I want her to attend a college that costs 34k a year, then guess what? I have to put away a little more money, make more sacrifices. I feel that's my obligation. Even if I don't put away one red cent for college, I will at least tell her that student loans are not an option and I'm sure she will still be able to get a college education.

Honeslty, with all this talk about tuition jumps, I think one of the biggest cost factors that no one has ever really ever mentioned is the cost of campus living. A semester on campus is damn near equal to a semester of tuition.

Same people passing paying off student loans like a badge of honor wouldn't wish that on their own kids and won't have to because they are in the process of getting it "right".
