Ray Rice and Chris Brown where born and grew up rich?

So its a coincidence that every "culture" that is impoverished also has high rates of violence against women and in general?

Maybe focus on the structure itself? You damn sure aren't addressing it by trying to change grown human beings.
Yes it can. This is a multi-layer problem. Both the Anti-Black/ anti Black women culture and poverty in our community needs to be addressed.
How can you claim its a simple poverty problem while acknowledging that black men with money continue the same culture?
Its been noted that men of means treat women just as bad if not worst in some cases.
Im not talking about anyone elses culture only my own.
how can you discuss building wealth if Black people don't trust each other?

At the beginning of mean streets
You tell me? You and your gender think its an issue that should be addressed specifically.

If correlation does not imply causation in this case then surely you are suggesting that Black men are inherently more violent than their White counterparts?

Mass incarceration is different than DV being that its strictly a product of government policy, not human behavior and development, and thus more easily addressed, but even then, I think a focus on economics alleviates all of these smaller issues.
DV is a cross cultural issue and being that we are both black American we are looking at it in that context. It's a behavioral issue that is not inherent, however mind frames and trauma play a significant part.

Because men who grew up in poverty or without a father don't suddenly become well adjusted once they get money.
Exactly, so the question is how do we get more positive influence into their lives and help them get more structure?

With wealth comes structure which means significantly reduced violence in the community :why:

I think with everything that has been going on with the police brutality and unarmed shooting is this. Both Black men and women are catching hell. Black women are being beaten, sexually assaulted, and shot by the police in record numbers, just like the men. I think there may be a shift in the overall consciousness of what happens to our women even if it is not necessarily reflected here online sometimes. But again victimizing women is easier because they are not able to put up the type of fight a man can. I do think that there is something of a cultural issue when it comes to domestic violence amongst AA, but I also think that extreme poverty also plays a role in that too since there's a direct correlation between domestic violence occurrences and median income. I do think as men we need to make sure our women are protected but I also think that women need to have more safe outlets to go to, as there are none in the lower-income areas in most cases.

how can we ever get to that point if Black men spend the first half of their lives confused to what it means to be a man, due to lack of structure and father figure?

Mind set needs to change amongst Black people, women included on both here and LSA the higher learning and education/career sections are the least patronized even though we have the highest unemployment rate .
just out of curiosity i browsed the web and found many opportunities for Black people men especially.
there are literally THOUSANDS of opportunities carved out especially for Black men yet there are still so many unemployed and under educated.
Im not saying this to prove that Black male inferiority but just to highlight that silencing these conversations is counterproductive to Black advancement.
Black men need to listen sometimes and stop flipping everything into an assault on Black Manhood.

There needs to be shift in how we address each other in our community especially the impoverished.
Just as there is a special kind of vitriol that Black women face there is also a unique form of racism and AntiBlackness practiced on Poor Black people!

What is the solution to this specific issue without any intersectionality? Locking up more Black men?

These are mostly adults who are set in their ways, work shytty jobs where they make shytty wages to support a family so they feel hopeless and anger which they then take out on their women and children. How are you correcting that?

Thats my issue with all this sectarian, gender based social issues stuff. A large part of this is simply a productive of poverty and lack of structure but instead of pushing to address those things, people will keep focusing on symptoms like street harassment, DV, police brutality, homicide rates. Its dumb.

Really nothing else to be said after this.:wow:

Down to the root..

so since you guys have all the answers wheres the money? wheres the stability?

We have to organize and force the cacs with the money to give it to us or else but we can't do that if we are fighting for less important things or playing victim olympics.

getting Black men to respect and value Black women is not a waste of time. Black women are not a waste of time.
But continue trying to build an empire by yourselves.
