Good movie. I got a lot of laughs. Lost some steam towards the end though.

Everything about this told me I should've LOVED it....but I only liked it.

The buddy cop stuff was great, but the 70s neo-noir plot didn't do it for me....and I fukking LOVE noir, of all types and sub-genres.

It's definitely a step or two below Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

I liked it. I felt the plot was a little incoherent to initially, but I didn't care because Ryan Gosling did his thing. Overall it was a solid flick.

Cornfields, cows, & an one stoplight town
I'm not usually a fan of silly, clueless lucky detective types, but Gosling pulled it off well and even had me laughing sometimes. The daughter was a bit annoying, but not implausible considering how she was raised. More than a few jokes fell flat and I think if I had watched this alone, I would have enjoyed it less. The people I was with made it more fun and funny. When it was funny though, it was really funny, and when it wasn't, I found myself waiting for the next great moment. The action towards the ends was pretty intense and engaging. Overall, I'd say it was an enjoyable popcorn flick, but I don't think I would buy it on Blu-Ray or anything.

One thumbs up.

I literally snorted when that little kid was talking about trying out for the porno by showing his dikk. That shyt was hilarious.

watched this last night...i dug tf outta it. Idk how shane black does it but he always has my kind of comedy in his flicks....he's the only dude that'll have me going :pachaha: instead of :ohhh: at some graphic violence and i love him for it. Gosling was great in this and so was crowe and they definitely made the movie good all by themselves. The story was weak but fukk it the gosling, crowe duo made it worthwhile all by they lonesome. Oh and i thought the daughter was great too and i could easily see her blowing up. Oh and shane came thru with the titties in this one :youngsabo:....i give it a 7.5/8 out of 10
