it tries to make the point that cable news outlets should be more like this newsroom, despite the fact that the journalists on the show are breaking old news stories in a matter of minutes other reporters took hours, days, and sometimes weeks to break

I don't think that's the point it's trying to make. In that little "behind the episode" or whatever thats posted in this thread, Sorkin says something to the effect of "whether it's because these people are smarter, or as is the case in the pilot just really lucky....."

I don't know where the show will go from here, but I think the point it's trying to make is that a successful news show doesn't have to have an extreme left/right slant to get viewers.

Sidenote: I'm really intrigued by the idea of using REAL stories, like the BP spill, throughout this show.

lol, I'm posting this from Canada as we speak moved here for university found a job before the last semester of school. Probably never going to leave. I'm not dismissing the states by any means I'm just saying people are missing out on the greatness of the rest of the world to often because of their closed mind.

Saw the show late last night and I thought it was good.
:wtf::krs: at the opening scene, that was amazing.
:comeon: the love storyline(s)
this echoes my views on the show completely.

Loved that opening monologue and how the actual news broadcast went down but the love stories felt contrived. Wasnt feeling it as much. Great potential with this show.

I kinda dug it. Not bad at all.

I thought the monologues were well done and on point even if they are a bit obvious at this point. My only gripe was that the corny music would kick in during the speeches which caused me to start laughing instantly and is a complete mood-murderer. That NEEDS to go ASAP

Otherwise, good drama and Daniels did a great job

Wow.

*claps*

Great premiere. Incredible opening scene, powerful stuff. Jeff Daniels, wow my man, wow. I'm all in for the ride, I hope the show stays as consistent as the first episode, this has crazy potential to be one of the goats. I loved every story line they had and everything was acted perfectly with great dialogue and writing. I'm loving all the characters so far. Soarkin is a genius.
