I love this show brehs :wow:

Jim's story arc is still insufferable, but I find the writing hilarious even if it is corny and over-the-top. Don, Charlie, Will, Leona kill every scene theyre in. The other characters need a bit of work before I can start caring about them, but this is a well-made show even if its completely ridiculous

:whoa: Newsroom may be :flabbynsick: but The West Wing and Sports Night are classics

I'm sayin'......Sorkin has MORE than proven his mettle as a TV writer. The West Wing won FOUR CONSECUTIVE Best Drama Emmy's......

even then hes only good if he has a strong director like fincher da gawd to rein in his worst attributes.

that's what i thought. while i like the newsroom i thought it also proved that sorkin was only part of the greatness of the west wing. he must have had somebody who looked over his scripts and cut out the parts that weren't working. sorkin is terrible at romance and in the west wing most of the romantic story arcs were only hinted at. i also suspect that he had planned something along the lines of the mac and will story for josh and mandy in west wing. it starts similar with somebody hiring joshes ex against his will, him demanding authority over her and some sort of betrayel that must have happened in their relationship. the whole series initially was set up to deal with that story line and sam's interest in the hooker. somebody must have told him that that wasn't a good idea and subsequently, mandy was dropped and the hooker story cut short.

anyways, does anybody else think that maggie is headed to mandyville?

people didn't appreciate the show being preachy the first season and they went away from that, I did not like that, so good riddance

Overall I liked the show, but the quality was hit and miss. When HBO hired Sorkin they expected a grest show and he didn't deliver. The pilot was :blessed:but no other episode reached that quality again, so I guess that's why they got cancelled. I don't think the problem was preachiness, the West Wing was just as preachy but still a good show, even though I don't know if it would survive in todays political climate.

They leaned on the love angles instead of the news. The coulda integrated the news into the people. Sorkin gon Sork :yeshrug:
