INVADING SOHH CHAMPION
People didn't hate Gangstas Paradise until it became huge with white people and they ruined it,and Coolio wasn't respected enough in his role in Maad Circle to be ousted from hiphop for any sin. He didnt have cultural relevancy like that. As well as it is not the complete story to say Ras Kass submission was rejected due to it being opera sample, which I don't think it is heard that way by many btw. As it sounds like just another sound in the g funk toolbox. The change of content is what got Ras Kass rejected ,as he was strongly embraced by purist similar to Nas after It Was Written. Coolio was rejected because his first solo submission, was such a big crossover act,he was seen as someone who was a one hit wonder who got lucky, laid no real groundwork in the streets or culturally first musically. Who just got lucky with a watered down commercial joint. But you said in the pop era,so it doesn't really matter how he was viewed culturally. The main point is just that the disconnect was not there, and you provided more proof with Ras Kass,3-6 shouldn't be credited for bridging anything.
Plus DJ Paul was a Eazy E stan. I'm sure there is influence there and even he would acknowledge Eazy-E's genius is what blew up bone thugs. Eazy was already on that horrorcore shyt,as was Bone Thugs to an extent though I don't really consider him hardcore. Eazy seemed to get more demonic around 93 w/ the Straight Off The Streets of Compton joint that got shelved. Eazy was in Cali,he would be more likely to be influenced by Brotha Lynch and Black Market records. If Bone was modeled after anyone I would say him. I tend to think all these dudes were getting some demonic spirits that had them all thinking in similar wavelengths. This is why you don't play around with that devil shyt.
Stop.
Coolio was never associated after the wc run with being a culture based artist.
Especially when simultaneously wc is showcasing Mecca envy with ice cube who was also formerly a Mecca based west coast artist. Who was now displaying Mecca envy for no reason other than sales and gimmickry as well.
You ain't never went in no real hip hop engrained culture based nuffin and heard a Mecca envy based artist in that realm. Especially once their liasion or any other offshoot draws showcased Mecca envy or any cultural discourse.
Coolio ain't never been a fringe culture or Mecca endorsed artist after county line sir.
How when alternatively whom he came to the dance was also involved in the biggest journalistic issue based scandal in rap as well. That lead to the destruction of the original source writers.
You do not know you history in hip hop actual culture at all, sir.
You talking some prison industrial apologist after the fact pass giving shyt. That started in the vhone Viacom commemorrative specials. To try to circumvent the culture'a accurate portrayal of history. That started after puff flopped on pe2000. When this whole pander to be a draw shyt started for defunct dead draw sellout based artists in rap.
County line coolio is considered the breaking point and starting point to coolio being disassociated as this culture Mecca endorsed and relevant artist. Trying to say different has numerous parrallels in actual reality that occurred that can dispute and easily point to you really not being culture based as well.
You speaking on a time when rap commercialism was being bastsrdized away from a culture based marketing stand point as well. Where I cns point to the creators and where and how that marketing was bastsrdized away from the original Leo Burnett based marketing as well. As the spread sheet return from marketing hip hop with rap started to illustrate. Then was immestediately moved away from a culture based standpoint in real scope, Content and execution.
If you went to any function where gangsta paradise was played. It was well after sponsor hopped on board in the Seagram based take over of all of music. Also included that scope in marketing. Which also entailed mainstreaming rap on a now marketing meets venue based basis. As insurance laws and premiums were now more malleable.
to more, what would be termed urban based events in larger drawing venues more consistently. Plus understanding the return for rap being marketed on soundtracks from the grassroots highwuality track listing and cultural grounded juice soundtrack.
Trying to say coolio was viewed as this culture based artist is easily debunkable.
