yes he can. he can cut the commercial bullshyt and return to what made him great. he's NEVER done that wholly for an album since you know what. Never. maybe, just maybe, he should consider that option. call me crazy.

his commercial run is over. he'd sell the same amount of records regardless. he's accumulated enough wealth to take a "risk" if you'd even call it that.

Its weird because I think he's become uncommercial by dropping a few commercial tracks. Like he'll make a commercial track...but I dont know if its because he wants to crossover, because its not the formula of that time.. Unlike in the 90s when I think that was his intention and it did work. Because its not that hard to crossover, but he does it his own way. Like the Mary J track on his album is a good example.

all those bikes were expensive though. I wanted a Diamond Back, got a Cycle Pro :why: and plenty of kids got stuck with a Huffy

I don't know what this has to do with the thread...
 I dont know how we got to talkin about bikes either but yea you right, I got stuck with Huffys in elementary school until I got to middle school and found out how to steal them expensive bikes :takedat:

Back to the topic - Life IS Good :ahh:

this album has a sheeny vibe to it. a big, plush, orchestrated feel. it's very post Rick Ross/MBDTF in sound.

that's a bit good and a bit bad simultaneously.

Mel - what's some of your fav tracks on the album? I know you have been a harsh, but realistic critic of Nas and seems like you still are. lol

You Wouldnt Understand
Queens Story
Stay
Loco-Motive
No Introduction
Bye Baby
The Black Bond

in particular are my favs...Nas my favorite MC tho, followed by Ghost, Doom, Mos Def, Rakim, Common (to give you an idea of my bias and preferences) :manny:

it's not just about him taking a "risk". there's a record label involved as well

that was another thing I didn't like about Needle Drop's review. he said some shyt like "at this point in his career Nas can do whatever he wants". that's just a bunch of BS if you know anything about this industry. especially the current state where they really do have to struggle to sell records. and if you think really Nas would sell the same regardless, you're fooling yourself

Was about to say the same shyt. Sadly, you can't just do whatever you want and put out whatever you want with a label involved....esp it today's climate.

Ghostface figured it out. you dont think 115,000 Nas fans would buy an album billed as his true return to form?

oh word, Ghost figured it out with Ghostdini: Wizard of Poetry in Emerald City?

I would love to think 100,000+ fans would buy that Nas album, but I don't see it happening. there's no other example of it happening that I can think of. look at that De La First Serve album. I love that album, but no one copped that shyt. cracking 100k these daze is like going plat: you're not gonna do it without mainstream support

No Introduction is overproduced but I think Nas' verses set the tone for the album really well...

Black Bond - Nas kills that shyt imo....the picture he paints is vivid as hell...song is too short too

yeah I fukk with those others as well

Not too crazy about the Ross, Swizz/Miguel and Mary J tracks, although the latter 2 are starting to grown on me a bit.....regardless of the beats or hooks, Nas' verses are on point throughout the entire album

don't try and cherry pick that Ghost album to aid your case. that was concept album done out of genuine love for women. i could go off on a tangent about how i don't think Nas really likes women at all but that would send the stans into a frenzy. not saying he's homosexual.

let's focus on EVERY SINGLE OTHER GHOSTFACE ALBUM.

let's also note that while Bulletproof Wallets suffered the same butchering that I Am...Nastradamus did it still was dope because Ghost doesn't really record bad songs and Nas does.

No he can't...what the fukk was the last commercial album he made?..but look...there's people that WANT Nas to be more commercial and mainstream...theres people that WANT esco Nas...there's people that WANT nasty Nas...there's people that WANT political and conscious Nas...and there's people that DON'T want him to be either one of those things...YOU ain't everybody...and I think u really think u are and ur opinion is fact..which is why u can't grasp what I'm tryna get at...Nas will NEVER please all his fans..even on an album like this one that has somethin for damn near everyone...
