I understand what you saying but if you want longevity in this industry and want to get to that next level (which Ross is clearly aspiring for) wouldn't you want to get better at your craft or add another dimension to your repertoire? Don't you think it's funny he has no memorable verses that immediately come to mind? I mean beats get old after the wow factor has worn off (which is fairly quickly when it comes to Ross) . I mean he's already locked into this persona why not add something to it to make it better....the answer is he can't. Frauds can only do so much until they become a one trick pony and thats whats happening to Ross. He's on his 5th album and still hasn't made his mark or given us any insight on what he's suppose to be about. Fantano had the perfect analogy with the Scarface reference.

As a fan, I don't have any significant investment in Ross. So whether or not he has longevity isn't important to me. When this disposable rapper is used up, it's on to the next one.

I don't agree with every review he does, but I respect Fantano opinion because he's very passionate, knowledgable and expressive. He always goes in depth on why he dis/liked every song on the album lyrically and musically. I respect that.

As for the people who have problems with him being white and hipster, here's a "life is good" review by a "black man wearing a wife beater" that you might like

nas - life is good is trash (album review ) - YouTube

White boy has no hiphop knowledge. He proved that in his summary during the Nas review.

Its funny cause this same thing more or less applied to Jay-Z until he made Blueprint. Prior to that, he`d have maybe 1-2 "my life was tough" joints on each disc but we never really got a glimpse into his actual persona until BP

"this is trash. most of the time he's rhyming over instrumentals. A long patch of instrumentals. I wanna to go like  and bob my head. There's no way I can do that just to a naked instrumental"

shyt is painful to watch because he's obviously just reading something, and not doing a good job of it

I hear what you saying but Jay has always had a layer of authenticity about him and you can tell from his rhymes that he had knowledge of the streets and the trappings of them. He actually talks about his hustle in his rhymes even back then. Introspective tracks is where he struggles but Ross doesn't even give you coherent thoughts just babbling about bricks in suitcases riding in ferraris, maybachs, fukking models....blah blah blah same old run of the mill shyt he been saying since forever but I guess if the beat is banging people accept anything.

dude knows the realization of what it feels like to finally get it when your favorite sells out.

i hate for anybody to feel like that,..real talk.

i know what that is like in a list longer than most poster will ever know about.

Both of them have run out of shyt to rap about, but Nas ran out of shyt way faster than Jay. BP3 was the nail in Jay's content coffin for me though

Ya shouldnt take these reviews too personal. Its just an opinion. I think the fantano and DEHH ones are entertaining. As far as Ross it just goes to show if u gas a nikka up enough ya'll gain fans eventually. To me the production and hype carries him.
