NBA is dying those ratings show that.
They need to transition off being a personality team and go to being a org based

Only the Lakers and Celtics have a true fanbase that doesn't exist on star personalities.

This is silly whenever I read this lol

NBA is about to get a massive TV deal in the next contract, doubling and potentially tripling their current rate. They are comfortably #2 in the US with a big market overseas. NBA max contract players are about to comfortably make $1 billion over the course of their careers

NBA players are about to make even more of a killing, owners are making a killing based off team $$ evaluation.

League has never been healthier in that term.

Lol, n a ratings are in a 10 year drop.
They will get a deal because all platforms want live broadcast.

That said with Fox, ESPN, and Warner teaming up for a sports network I expect that will drive prices down or further take NBA away from broadcast TV and make it a niche sport.

When you say dying, it should be reflected in something such as numbers.

Otherwise you need to add the NBA that YOU enjoyed is dying. The regular season that I enjoyed is dying fading as well to me as well, but the playoffs are still very solid.

The only boring thing is when they overdo that stupid 3p thing, like when Dray was dead and they were playing 5 - 4 and still going for 3s instead of 100 % certain layups.

Yeah once they bring competitors back to the forefront the league will get better.

That super team shyt killed the game and the talent pool. How can some teams have 4 all star caliber players and detroit and memphis introduce create a players every other game.
that was the league in the 80s as well

I wouldn’t say “dying”, I’d say changing for the worse

It’s very similar to rap. If you’re only focused on money, you lose the essence. Silver is completely oblivious to the essence of what this game is. David stern was a legit basketball guy. Silver is running the league like a lawyer.

It’s the little shyt you gotta pay attention to

That circle :laff:

Ratings mean NOTHING in today's market. That doubling/tripling of the TV deal essentially confirms that.

NBA isn't going to become a niche sport lol. It's more talked about now than in the 00-10's

It's a year long soap opera that no other major US sport has.

Do you not understand how EVERY DECADE worked in the NBA?

The superteam has been around since the Bill Russell Celtics and continued with NUMEROUS TEAMS EVERY DECADE

Knicks, bulls, Celtics, Spurs, Blazers, raptors, lakers, Sixers and maybe mavericks/warriors. The only teams in the league who have legitimate fanbases and who actually care about their team and not only specific individual star players. The rest of the teams in the NBA have little hypebeast kids, fickle and fairweather casuals , clout chasers, player Stans, dikkriders and shameless bandwagoners posing as fans .

Ratings mean everything.
There was a content glut that caused networks to overpay, but with everyone breaking off their own streaming platforms and losing money, it seems the broadcasters are gathering together to try to hit back on the live sport providers. That said, NBA NBAPA was prepping for the possiblity of losing money due to potential drop in rights.
