And that's the only year he can really bytch about honestly. Any other year he either ran into the buzzsaws that were Kawhi and Draymond (shyt happens, Pippen had Rodman, Hakeem, Jordan, Payton who got in his way) or he was too injured for it to matter. Street Clothes really wondering why he only has 4 Top 5 DPOY finishes in 13 years.

As much of a critic as I am of Anthony Davis he does not get enough credit for the defender that he is and should have probably won a couple of times.
Because there were better defenders than him. There aren’t better defenders than AD right now.

It's a relative award. If Wemby wins this year, doesn't mean that he's better than AD was in his prime season.
It seems easier to standout as a defense name today
Also what Wemby is blocking is like 35-50 % higher than what AD was doing. Only Kareem, Mutumbo, Hakeem, Bol, Eaton etc. had the those type of numbers more than once, but it's not like it's the only parameter

But when that turns into you hating on someone else who's just playing the game (and blowing you out of the water in blocks) it's a bad look
if that's how he felt he should've been openly shytting on Gobert or Marcus smart for winning over him too, why would you wait until there's a new guy leading in blocks by a wide margin to throw shade, he doesn't even have an argument over Wemby this year

i.e. Can't get mad at Marcus Smart for winning when he played 71 games, and AD played 40. Jaren Jr only played 63, but was still more than AD's 56. Lookin at the voting results that year, AD wasn't even top 12, so it wasn't even about games played per se. Last year, sure Wemby was 2nd in votes... but Bam was 3rd.
Whatever may be going on, it's less about Wemby and more about AD having shyt luck in the viable years he's had to win it.

There's a lot of deserving guys who should have a DPOY and don't. Anthony Davis is just the latest. As mentioned in this thread, Duncan never got one. Neither did Pippen. Neither did Bowen. And I know it's en vogue here to act like LeBron always sucked defensively, but he's on the list of guys who deserved one but never got it, either...
