She can smartly follow you just like a companion would in a realistically survival scenario.

She does this. You make it seem like she is running around doing her own thing like Dom from GOW. The only time she does really move is if you are trying to take a cover and she's there so naturally the AI is going to scramble to another position. Yes it is a design flaw but it has nothing to do with lazy development or dumb oversight. ND just weighed it's options and saw that having enemies ignore your comp was the best solution to avoid constant frustration. Because sometimes you are with multiple people also. and the game is already challenging enough

Ok so what would you suggest. And having her escape to some magical tunnel and meet you after the dangerous part kind of defeats the purpose of having her there and would get lame as fukk after a while. So that's not an option. What do you think they should have done differently that keeps her involve in gameplay while maintaining you expectations of realism?

The alien in alien isolation could sniff you out if you stayed in one spot too long. He'd stalk your trail. He'd listen for small sounds you made and if you made them too close to him he'd find your hiding spot. That game was all about amazing AI

Kind of easy when it's ONE setting and ONE enemy :camby:

Have her react to the enemies, not the players action.

She should/could be making decisions based in her own self preservation, not just following the players moves.

Or honestly a tunnel wouldn't have been bad. "Elle you stay here while I check this room out"

Having the enemies pretend she doesn't exist is lame and kinda defeats the purpose of having her around as well.

But it's a suspenseful, survival horror game. Having her react and attack random enemies on her behalf without your input kind of defeats that purpose. I mean if you are trying to sneak past an area with a bloated, 10 clickers, with only a stick that you want to save, having her randomly shank them wouldn't be ideal. Unless of course you have a gang of ammo and weapons but they would run that narrative of the game and turn it into Resident Evil. And the enemies only ignore her when you aren't causing a commotion. Not when you are fighting. And of course that hide in a closet suggestion is not only lame like I said earlier, it gets complicated when you have two other people. So all of them wait too?

Half life literally programmed every single possible encounter in every sequence and every area and is considered still the greatest ai in gaming history. Why? because they gave a shyt.

Feel free to keep making excuses tho :sas2:

She should see the guard coming and get into cover herself.
lol yeah, easier said than done. Don't think you realize how complicated it'd be to program a friendly AI that manages to stick to the player while also avoiding being spotted by 5 other enemies at the same time. There are no games that do this.

So one of the biggest AAA companies in the country isnt going to make good AI because its"complicated" :skip:

If she stuck to the player the sight radius would be extended only slightly to include her. It would be the same as if Joel was the size of two people instead of one. That doesnt sound very difficult
