Every year i check the falcons message board after the draft and you have a few ppl that dont like the draft and everyone treats them like a leper or a idiot. What about this franchise inspires so much arrogance and blind confidence in this team? Most of our number one picks aint even here anymore. TD has a awful record drafting in the first 3 rounds. He only hit on Matt and Julio and Deebo. Thats in 12 years!

Hella arrogant. I saw a thread and some dude was insinuating Aaron Rodgers is slowing down, and that Matt is better then him now. Like Aaron Rodgers isn’t a super bowl champion, and has way more intangibles then Matt. I just don’t get why they have the audacity to say that crap

TD doesn’t really draft any worse than anybody else though, you just pay a lot more attention to the Falcons than you do other teams. And he’s hit on more players than those three, and getting a QB who has been at least top 10 for the majority of his career and a HoF WR is nothing to sneeze at, a lot of teams don’t even have that.

A lot of it comes as a counter to the "TD sux" crowd. I mean, if we're gonna go over his top 3 picks over the years:

Guys that were worth their draft position/busts:

2008:
Matt, Lofton, Douglas, Decoud/Baker, Jackson

2009:
Moore/Jerry, Owens

2010:
Spoon, Peters/Johnson

2011:
Julio/Dent

2012:
:francis:/Konz, :flabbynsick:

2013:
Trufant, Alford

2014:
Matthews/Hageman, Southward

2015:
Coleman/Beasley, Collins

2016:
Neal, Jones, Hooper

too early to fully grade:

2017:
Takk/Riley

2018:
Ridley, Oliver/Senat

2019:
Lindstrom, McGary

So you have one complete dud, 3 poor drafts, 4 mediocre drafts, and 4 good to great drafts over 12 years. 19 viable players. Is that great? Hell nah, but it's better than he's given credit for. I've seen 3 different legit playoff teams/eras be built since 2008 and can see the makings of a 4th if things go right. That's not blind loyalty, but objective football prognostication :manny:

2008 and 2016 were great drafts. 2015 2011 was good. The rest were mediocre to bad. 2012 is one of our worst drafts of all time.

I agree with that in theory, but at least we know we have heart. It's not worth Chase Young, but the growth of the defense down the stretch and Matt figuring things out offensively will pay off going into next season. Plus, based on the positions we drafted, I actually like most of our picks over the guys who play the same position who went before them. I'd take Terrell over Henderson and Davidson over Blacklock for our defense. If that's how they were looking to draft(Dimitroff is almost always need-driven) then I don't think we actually missed out on much :manny:
I agree it shows a lot of heart to finish strong after having a disappointing first half of the season. The draft wasn’t bad to me either. They went needs and didn’t make a desperation move. With that being said, these guys will have to step in and compete immediately. There’s no time to develop them. We can’t have duds like Riley or Beasley. I hate seeing us go 6-10, 7-9 because our chances of getting a scrub goes up exponentially. With that being said, I think three of the rookies are ready to contribute now.

But even with saying that the Falcons are trying to get a deal done that works for them, Matt and his reps are trying to get a deal done that works for them. I don’t see the point of drawing out contract negotiations...both sides are already working in their best interests anyway. Plus Matt has always been willing to restructure his deals on the back end to help the team. He’s done that numerous times.

This teams biggest issues are coaching & player personnel, not Matt Ryan’s contract
True, he is willing to restructure. I agree coaching and player personnel is the reason we’re mediocre but we can’t build through free agency because of our money situation. We are forced to rely heavily on the draft and we have been missing on picks year after year outside of 2016 and Ridley. I think this draft was good on paper. It all depends on whether Terrell, Davidson and Hennessy (LG) are ready to contribute day one. We can’t have them developing all season if we’re in win now mode. If we had higher picks, guys like Okudah, Kinlaw, Simmons, Blaylock, Winfield, Delpit and Young are all more likely to have an easier transition and contribute from the start.

Assuming most in here are Georgia fans, Richard Seymour was inducted into the Patriots HOF today. He should be in the Pro Football HOF already. It's pathetic that he's not.

Three time first-team all-pro, a two time second-team all-pro, and named to the NFL all-decade team for the 2000's.

Was the anchor on a defensive line that helped win three Super Bowls.
