Do not listen to this dude about Ryan.

As long as matt Ryan is the qb, the falcons aren’t serious about winning anything.

what this bum @AVXL means by looking “ objectively” translates to LoOk at Da StATz.

last year matt Ryan threw a 47 yard duck in the air against Carolina. The db misplayed resulting in the receiver catching it and running for a td. They credited Marty Mediocre with a 92 yard pass.

:mjlol: @ the thought of Marty throwing a 92 yard pass. Here is some objective-ness. They inflate passing stats of NFL qb’s. No qb is passing for the yards they say they are.

But this is Constance go to reason on why we should continue on with that bum. And on top of that he doesn’t even make anyone better

Imagine Julio having to sit out to get a new contract, yet he has to play offense and defense

Julio was 29th in td receptions last year. But ohh no Matt’s is not a significant problem at all

Hes the QB until at least 2023. If that bothers you so much go follow another team

I just don’t think that’s realistic breh. The Falcons aren’t moving off of Ryan no matter how bad next season is. Also if you get Trevor Lawrence youre not sitting him for a year. He’s playing almost immediately. And Matt still has a cap number that would make releasing him or trading him difficult if not unrealistic over the next few seasons (his extension runs through 2023). That’s why I’ve been saying this for the past several years, the Falcons are locked in with Matt Ryan for the foreseeable future, the fact they keep giving him 100 million dollar deals should tell you all you need to know about how the Falcons feel about Matt at QB
Idk breh I know we have him for years but we can’t fill out a roster with bad draft picks and overpaid players. They’ve got to shake something up. He’s not a bad QB at all and is the best in our franchise’s history by far but we need everything to be perfect for him to succeed and we’re paying him like he’s a QB that can lift the team even when everything isn’t perfect. We’re missing the playoffs consistently with two guys that are considered one of the best at their respective positions. We should look at the future if we miss the playoffs again imo

If the Falcons don’t make the playoffs I agree that they will reset the coaching staff and front office. What I don’t see is a hard reset where we draft a QB in the first round next season. As long as Matt and Julio are on the team the Falcons are going to try to win and build with youth around those two. Falcons won’t invest in a highly rated QB prospect until at least 2023 at the earliest

I agree with others it’s time to start thinking about drafting Ryan heir apparent. He’s going to be one of the longest tenured Qbs soon. All of the others (Brees, Ben, Rodgers) have rings. His game ain’t gonna age well.

Do you agree with it though? I know that’s what they’re going to do and I personally wouldn’t give as much of a damn if we weren’t paying a premium for 6-10, 7-9, 8-8 seasons and one MVP season for Matt and one double digit TD season for Julio. My problem is we can’t get good players bc we’re paying guys top dollar for mediocrity.

if we are 7-9 and we keep trotting out the same philosophy, same stale GM, then we are not playing to win championships. If prime Julio and Ryan are going to take up most of the cap and they can’t get us more than 8 wins, then it’s not a sound strategy.

This year we let go of:

Top rusher
Top tackler
Top interception leader
Number 2 wideout
Number 1 tight end (number 2 in receptions)

the only constant variables in this 12 seasons of mediocrity (one great season) is Ryan and Dmitroff. Why are we holding on to them like Brady and Belichick? Even Brady got the fukk on after all them rings. shyt I just want one!

I agree and if we were all trying to win a championship then we would’ve never been in this situation cap wise. Brady, Brees, Rodgers all were willing to take a pay cut for a better roster. Somehow we think we can overpay two dudes that haven’t won anything like those three and build the rest of the roster with bargain bin dudes like Jamon Brown and Jack Crawford and drafting bums like Takk, Beasley and Isaiah Oliver. We ain’t going to win with bad draft picks and low risk no impact free agents bc we can’t afford the bigger impact guys

The team as a whole needs to be coached better and managed better and play better. We need to draft better...if you get good better and more productive draft picks you can get 3-5 years of production without paying them top dollar.

Do I agree with the approach? The Falcons have made numerous decisions that have led to this approach. I wouldn’t have paid Devonta after the Super Bowl. I would’ve madeJulio play out his deal. I wouldn’t have brought an uninterested & unmotivated Vic Beasley back last season. I wouldn’t have brought back DQ for this year (and I would’ve strongly considered getting rid of TD). I wouldn’t have signed Jamon Brown & James Carpenter AND Ty Sambraillo and then drafted 2 OL in the first round in 2019. Those are just a few recent moves that I can think of so there’s a lot of moves the Falcons have made that I don’t agree with but at this point I’m trying to be realistic and optimistic about what direction the franchise is going. My read on the Falcons is that this is a prove it yr for DQ & TD and both will be gone if we don’t make the playoffs. But this is a roster outside of a few holes that can compete. We should be in the playoff mix this season

Anything that starts with Matt Ryan needs to go or let’s tank for Trevor talk I ignore because it’s not happening, it’s fantasy talk

I don’t think Matt Ryan needs to go but I think his contract does. I agree that Free and Julio shouldn’t have been paid like they were but I also think Matt shouldn’t have been paid like he did. He got a big contract after 2012. We sunk to the bottom of the division after that. It is fantasy talk bc of how high the FO is on him but I’m saying if we bomb the first half of the season again like we’ve been doing why not look at Lawrence? Clean house from TD to DQ and just chalk the season up as a loss instead of winning meaningless games. This year there is a QB that can turn your franchise around so if we’re in position we should go after him. We were in position to get Chase Young or Jeff Okudah but we won all those games just to settle on AJ Terrell and keep TD and DQ. We can’t keep making these mistakes. We did the same the year before.

It’s one thing to say “ well we can’t do anything, TD is a dummy and he overpaid for a mediocre Qb, we are strapped”

But then there are fans like you, and you aren’t unique, who will be disingenuous as hell, who will insult folks when they see what is actually going on in the field.

this team has gone “Halves” without scoring. And you and a few others will be like “ it’s not Matt’s fault look at the stats” all while this dude is the longest tenured, highest person on the team, and here we are 13 years later, and evidently he’s not a problem

Bro they’re not moving off of Matt Ryan even if we go 1-15. It’s not happening. We’re about 2-3 years minimum from drafting a true heir apparent

As for 2012, Matt was coming off of his rookie deal and he’s a QB. He was always going to get a big deal. There’s no scenario where the Falcons wouldn’t have signed him to a long term contract. The Falcons historically don’t have players play under franchise tags and they wouldn’t have had Matt play under a tag or walk, that wouldn’t have made sense.

The Falcons under Arthur Blank arent a tear it down, tank for whoever kind of team. They’re much more methodical and patient than that as an organization

You have nothing to offer to the discussion of the Falcons other than an unnatural hatred for Matt Ryan. Cool. You hate the ground Matt Ryan stands on. Great. He’s the QB until 2023. If you have a problem with that take it up with ownership.

I understand the 2013 contract bc he has been successful since entering the league, we were one play away from the SB in 2012 and he was trending upwards but breh why another max deal after losing the Super Bowl in embarrassing fashion? We shouldn’t have let him go obviously coming off a MVP season but we shouldn’t have broke the bank for years to come. If Tom Brady and Drew Brees can take paycuts why couldn’t we ask Ryan?
