Silk the Shocker is still a real thing. 90% of Rap music made since 2003 is still out there. Being wack.

I'd take CL smooth over EVERYTHING on 102 Jamz today.

But he was iffy at best. TROY is supposed to be the best beat ever, but them bars are like 3/5. He only makes it above 2 because of said voice quality itself.

This thread is pure trash. Y’all coming at legends (cl, guru, Pete rock) who made a real contribution rap back when it was an actual art form and required musical/lyrical talent. This is one of the times where I hate being an adult - feeling the need to over analyze and evaluate instead of recognizing the era for what it was - diversity. Different rhyme styles, schemes, formats, deliveries, syntax etc. Lots of Loving and straighten it out are still my shyt, Gangstarr -Take It Personal also a classic - so y’all can kick rocks . Matter of fact, kick a boulder.

Now you have the same formulaic, production, limited lyrics and dumbed down content. I appreciate the contributions from that time regardless. Between Prodigy (rip) passing, the Dips still taking Ls.. -shytz depressing. Damn - let me keep a piece of my childhood intact by respecting the originators .

again, I like CL Smooth and don't like him being disrespected like this, but yall gotta stop trying to throw some of these other rappers under the bus.
