Soccer and hockey players all have concussion issues too. I guess this fakkit won't let his son play sports at all. There are risk factors involved in everything we do.
How does soccer have concussion issues? from when they hit the the ball with their heads?

Yes. Headers are actually correlated with progressive memory deficits too. I read this in a study.

and they happen 3-5 times a game, as opposed to 75 times

nobody is dumb enough to think risk isn't inherent to sport. but the risk of football is beginning to outweigh the sport itself.

They'll use literally ANYTHING to further the claim that football is dying.... yet college athletic departments are making hundreds of millions of dollars off Football, and the NFL shyts on all sports leagues in terms of revenue.
not for long. o'bannon already fukked up their hustle, it's only a matter of time now.

once the nfl loses their free on the job training, they'll suffer too.

making money now doesn't mean you'll make money forever. why has that not sunken in yet? brehs in here keep bringing up money.

People seem to forget that concussions aren't truly a deterrent from Football... if that was the case, girls would be cheerleaders, and soccer wouldn't be growing as a sport here.

http://www.newsobserver.com/2012/11/11/2475302_high-school-concussions-are-not.html?rh=1

again, just because football isn't the only sport that has concussion risk doesn't mean concussions aren't a deterrent in football. your article says NOTHING to say that concussions don't deter people from playing football. all it says is that concussions happen in other youth sports too. great. we knew that. nobody is defending other sports in here, people bring up soccer but how is that relevant, besides the fact that players are at risk to get elbowed in the head, too? nevermind the fact that it happens on a much smaller scale than in football, where it happens every other play for some players

from your article:
Football and ice hockey have the highest risk of concussion among young players. A recent study indicated that there are approximately 67,000 diagnosed concussions among high school football players each year

you dudes' reasoning is real shoddy. it's obvious you love the sport and can't conceive of it being any less popular than it is now. but that doesn't mean you're right.

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
Pop Warner may be the largest youth football organization, but more and more youth football leagues are springing up ( e.g. Snoop Youth Football ) and most kids don't play in Pop Warner leagues.

I guess you're not really understanding how control groups work, if the largest youth league in the country is losing participation, it stands to reason lesser leagues would also be losing as well. I mean HS participation is dropping around the country and you're still on some "well, most kids don't play pop warner", you can't explain away HS participation dropping :yeshrug:

in the link you posted,it's noted that some schools districts are charging upwards of $500 to play football.... it doesn't take fear of long team brain damage to make a parent tell their kid they can't play football, all it takes is a look at their checking account.

The first thing they point to in the HS link are concussions :wtf:

“Do they feel no shame in snatching taxpayer money they don’t really need from impoverished communities?” he writes. But beyond that, Almond worries that football negatively influences America’s attitudes about violence, hyper-masculinity, racism and homophobia."

I'll give him this ↑↑↑

We do keep ourselves insulated from how much this take from players.

How about you pussies who don't like the violence go watch something else and leave my goddamn American Football alone :pacspit:

This. If you ain't from America, shut the fukk up speaking on my sport. You b*stards dont even LIKE "Americanized" football, :camby: outta here with your asinine projections of its downfall and "phase out". Football been just fine for decades, the game will adjust to the times, like it always does.

Writer is a p*ssy and so is anybody who supports his hoe ass position.

This has nothing to do with the violence of the game and everything to do with the continued wussification of America, a place where we give all the kids trophies JUST for participating instead of teaching them the concept of working hard to win. :stopitslime:

The NFL cares, they understand that there's only so much room for growth with this sport if it's relegated to just being an American sport. They have games in Europe now trying desperately to get the sport to stick but nobody there really cares about it because it's not free flowing and it's too expensive to play.

Pop warner is already seeing a decline in participation by kids and that's only going to get worse as more information about head injuries come out and more dudes are left looking like veggies. I see dudes mentioning other sports and the wear and tear on the body, but brain damage is a completely different animal than having leg injuries.
As evidenced by this thread a lot people dont really care what happens to these players 20-30 years after they retire :yeshrug:

You have to make an attempt to globalize because of the internet. Pop Warner isnt even the biggest league if memory serves, just has the most name recognition.

Baseball has dried up significantly in the US. Football has never had traction globally...and has done just fine. The minimization of the talent pool is in places like Westchester NY(your hometown right?) where the talent has always sucked and is a predominantly liberal area...where over protective soccer moms have always been apprehensive about the sport. Jewish kids never played football....the media is overwhelmingly jewish, with the eruption of the blogosphere and alas...FOOTBALL IS EVIL! Would bet zero of these writers ever played even flag football let alone tackle.
Football is easily my favorite sport. But you're in denial. Your affinity for the game is clouding your reason. Everything horse kills and Malta are saying is true. The long term trajectory for the sport's popularity does not look good.

Possibly. But it seems they're rooting for it because they like soccer and cant understand why Americans dont enjoy the game. This is where their animosity is coming from...I doubt horse really worries about football players health.

As far as the denial goes...I'll just keep enjoying my NFL sundays like I always have. Wake me up when they take those away.

I love football so I'm not rooting against it and maybe they're gloating somewhat, but I think they're right. Very bad PR and image problems, more and more of the concussion issue coming to light, a market that isn't expanding outside the U. S. in an increasingly globalized economy, and a dwindling pool of youth playing gives it nowhere to go but down in the long term imo.

It's so gigantic currently it'd almost be impossible to grow. But as long as it's on I'll always be tuning in to root for the Jets. The NFL will never lose their core base(those who tune in to watch their favorite team- not fantasy, not gambling etc).

I preferred the old NFL prior to Jerruh and Goodell taking over...but this is the best we've got for now.

And your Spurs are about the only thing good about the NBA. Lebron being the GM of the NBA is bad for the on the floor product, but better for their financial growth in the short term. At least with the NFL- the league isnt run by a few players and where they want to play- there's still a competitive dynamic. Where will the NBA be in 10 years when Lebron is gone?
