no, not necessarily..... The creators are isolated and not directly exposed to those with the flare. At this stage it's unclear where on Earth this us taking place but presumably in the case of a pandemic governments would try to quarantine those with the illness or those exposed to it. It's likely the creators are working for whatever government is in place after the Earth scorch and are operating in some safe/ remote location

Trailer left me having zero interest. But word of mouth spread it was good so I checked it out

That was my reaction as well. Started watching & expected some Twilight/teenage love movie but it was the opposite with pretty good acting. I'll definitely watch the sequel
