I still laugh whenever I get presented with the choice of leaving Kaidan or Ashley :mjlol: "you just wait right here Kaidan. We'll be right back :mjlol:"

And its actually some bs. On one playthrough I finally decided to throw Ashley in the bushes for being a space republican. Kaidan's backstory and motivations are actually really, really damned good - his personality and punchable face just make him one of the weakest male characters on the ship when it comes to how he relates to Shepard.

In ME3 for example, when he's in the hospital recovering, he says some :ohhh: more than a couple of times. In the end, he's a better character than a lot of the cast - he's just never a breh like Garrus, Mordin, Wrex, or even Jacob for that matter.

First run I was suspect of Ashley, she's always "You bringing more aliens on board?!:usure:"' You hear more of her backstory and you understand. I aligned more with Kaidan due to his backstory and politics but I threw him to the bushes to smash Ashley.:manny:

Ashley is actually a really underrated character when you think about it, especially in ME1. If the writing she got for ME1 continued into ME2 and especially ME3, she would've been looked at differently.

Instead, her character really stalled in ME2 and though there was an improvement on her end on ME3, there wasn't enough content on her on ME3 to make up for lost ground, imho.

That Asari box must be something. :whew: I stayed trying to ask Samara give it up. :heh:

ME2 had some weak characters that could've been replaced by another OG character. Ashley or Kaiden would have done well to replace at least one of the new squad mates. I appreciate BioWare giving us a black character but Jacob was kind of weak. Having Kaiden continue being a poster boy of the negative side of biotics instead of having Jack whack ass. It would have been a good character arc to see Ashley xenophobic views be justified after seeing Shepard get merked, Cereberus views of protecting humanity and Council politics.

EDIT: Hold up, you were able to romance Ash in ME 3, despite not romancing her in ME1 and ME2? :dwillhuh:

Samara would've been a dope romance option, looking back.

Absolutely agree. To top it off, a lot of those ME2 characters don't do shyt of importance in ME3 AND weren't even available to use anyway. I much rather would've had a Virmire survivor DLC than a Kasumi DLC for example. Jack is alright but as far as the main story is concerned, what's the point of her being there? There's a purpose for Jacob being in ME2 but it became evident that the writers had no idea what to do with him despite his intriguing background. And so on and so forth.

It would have been a good character arc to see Ashley xenophobic views be justified after seeing Shepard get merked, Cereberus views of protecting humanity and Council politics.

Her view were justified soon after Shepard died. The council buried Shepard's achievements and pretended as if the Reapers didn't exist, despite everything Shepard and Normandy crew did in ME1. She wouldn't trust Cerberus but it would've been dope for her to bring that up in ME 2 or even ME 3.

One thing I ended up liking about Ash was that she was perhaps the only human of the crew that was still religious. ME3 was supposed to touch on that in a convo with Shepard but that scene was deleted prior to the game's release.:mindblown: The convo is in the spoilers:

I swear, ME3 had a whooooole lot of potential for greatness, but bioware kept making one weird ass decision after another. Deleting this convo was one of many of those decisions.

I left her for Miranda in ME 2 and stayed loyal to her for 3:manny:

I did that the first time around. Then I decided to do a final trilogy run and stayed loyal to Ash.

All Ash needed in ME3 was more content. Her content in ME3 was lacking like hell, even after she officially joins your squad. Especially with all the stuff that was going on. Still don't know why they deleted that religion / meaning of life and death convo, the whole exchange was on point and very fitting to those who chose to romance Ash. Bioware on that weird shyt:francis:

The ME3 writers / team must've been on some favoritism shyt with Liara, she got a shyt ton of content in ME3. :stopitslime:

I actually thought ash was kinda meh in the first one. Now grant it I played the sequel first then went back to play the first but even with the bit of depth she did have, there was something off about her that just never sat right with me. I think that's why it made it easier on my second play through to ditch her for Miranda

In fairness to you, she isn't for everybody. She was a borderline xenophobe who can be a bit too blunt for her own good while walking around with a chip on her shoulder due to what the Alliance did to her grandfather. Thankfully, Shep romancing her helps her tone down on a lot of that.

On the flipside, she's quite principled, very honest, and her loyalties are clear from the jump. Add the flaws and the unexpected stuff--her love for poetry and her being one of the very few that still believing in God--and she's actually well-rounded.

The writing team really let her down in ME2 and even ME3.

Hell yea you could save Wrex, you didn't?:why:

You gotta have your charm and/or intimidate skill all the way up to do it. Do as many missions as you can before going to Virmire and put as many skill point as possible on the charm and/or intimidate skill. That way, you'll be able to talk Wrex down and he'll agree to go with you in the mission.

Yeah her bad qualities outweighed her good. Because the whole poetry and religious thing should obviously be for me lol but that xenophobic attitude she had and the other bad stuff just made me say meh. Plus I've got a crush on Yvonne strahovski since Chuck
