If they can make me care about a useless character like Snoke, that's pretty impressive.

They messed up with the timeline. The timeline for this show should be after the Rise of Skywalker.
Basically everyone in this show is going to die including The Child because there of course is no mention of anyone in the Force Awakens, Last Jedi, etc.

Most of the characters aren’t essential to the TFA, TLJ, etc.
The entire purpose of the show is not to create direct offshoots to the movies.
The shytquel trilogy only covers like a year of galactic history in the saga. It itself is damn near insignificant by design. At the end of it we're back exactly where the end of RotJ left the galaxy.
Rey being the light to match Kylo's darkness doesn't mean there's no other force users, the broomstick boy proves in EPISODE 8 proves that. The child could be chilling somewhere eating all sorts of nasty shyt. It might still be in a child-stage as well.

The stupid "Starkiller base" blew apart the capital worlds of the New Republic, so, yeah, its not looking great for The Child's future unless he's deep in hiding far on the other end of galaxy out of range to show up for the big stupid battle at the end of Rise of Skywalker.
