The real problem is that people live beyond their means and are not taught financial literacy.

:childplease:

Yes they are. What they're NOT taught is financial discipline.

As a parent, it's easy to say "if you spend more than you make, you'll be in the red."

It's harder to say "if you take this money out of your savings, I'm gonna whoop your ass and take it back."

I was gonna make a thread about our society wanting to keep up with the joneses yesterday but i forgot. There is nothing wrong with wanting nice things if you can afford em but nikkas out here trying to live like rappers; buying $160 burberry shirts and $300 belts and making $12 an hour.

:patrice:How can weight get pushed when the hood is broke:wtf::snoop::confused:

Dawg what do you think Bone thugs meant when they were singing about "the first of the month"??:mjpls:

ALso there's always customers from wealthier neighborhoods.

And I agree, more people need to practice financial discipline. Lot of folks out here are really putting up a front. Hell, some of their bank accounts are in the negatives to

This is not surprising at all.

Most people don't understand money. Saving money is really the only way you're going to "pay yourself" for all your hard work.

If you don't pay yourself, its almost like you never got paid at all :manny:

capitalism is fine. people are scared to step out on their own two and monetize their ideas. they like their slavery...it's safe...and you don't have too think to hard. you just have to exist enough to survive. this isn't capitalism's fault. there are people who have access to a computer and a smartphone that would rather post on instagram and facebook all day instead of finding a few hustles...and there are so many. scared money never made money....and that's exactly what people are holding on to...scared money....they won't turn off CNN or MSNBC so they're afraid of everything. i know 15 year olds doing freelance SEO making $200 a day. there are sites that teach you all of this shyt for free. no excuses. i have no pity for people that don't try harder...and even harder than that.

Maybe, just maybe, if we taught our kids some financial literacy in school... and the parents taught the kids financial discipline at home...
