thinking of starting a record collection when i move back to cali. currently live somewhere with only mainstream shops.
i tried starting one a while ago i only got MIAs Kala, Enter the 36 Chambers, The Chronic, illmatic, and a kanye single i forgot which one. generic as fukk. my taste is deeper but i dont wanna spend all my money on too many records naw mean? i really want obscure foreign records, some current indie, jazz and old punk shyt. music is vast as you know.

at the risk of sounding like a newb what is the best reccomended record player for a newbie on a budget?? an amazon link would be nice brehs.

Depends on what your budget is.

Stay away from turntables with USB features and the cheap crap known as Crosley. Vintage, second hand turntables/equipment are a safer bet. It's better to "buy nice than to buy twice"

buy used. check your local craigslist for a nice vintage receiever. i bought all my shyt new and it was fukking expensive and basic quality. now i know what to and not to do when i upgrade my setup.

you can get good stuff for a quarter of the price on craigslist, just browse for the next few days and swoop on good stuff quick.

also for everyone on here you should check out

http://www.reddit.com/r/vinyl

if you're not familiar with reddit its basically a big messageboard, and this is the vinyl subreddit. ive gotten a lot of good deals, bought some records from random cool bands, and gotten great info from here.

i dunno - i KNOW thats good advice - but i kinda wanna make a rookie mistake on purpose and just lazily purchase that link from amazon.
but if i do purchase those speakers.... what kind of reviever would i need?? tryna make sure i have the correct shyt before i purchase any equipment.
