I'd also like to add if Islam had this great presence in the New World what does that say about Islam?

That their own people sold them into slavery in massive quantities for profit?

That their tribes were too weak to resist becoming slaves?



Just some stuff that would be running through mind if I were a Muslim.



Is Islam supposed to be a tool for reconnecting with our African roots?

I never really understood that one either.

nah islam is a tool to connect with Allah the one god. this connection however is the root of religion and believed by muslims to be the religion of man in his natural state.

Why don't you read the the little blurb in the link digest it and get to back to us and tell us what you took away from it.


I think it's an interesting idea. I'm not really seeing the basis for it at all.


A lot of things from Africa carried over to the Caribbean. There are West African religions, songs, customs, words, foods, and more that I probably couldn't even begin to list

I'm not trying to be funny but Islam was not one of them. You really have to ask yourself why it didn't continue to be followed/passed on? Was Islam not important enough to these people? Was Islam present in numbers great enough to sustain it in the first place?

I'm really not trying to be a prick but this is the logical way I see things.

if it was prominent, Im sure the spanish who brought the slaves there removed it the same way they did during the reconquista. Even all the orange trees in spain were ordered by the pope to be uprooted because it was the moors who brought them there. Muslims were persecuted with a vengeance in spain so it wouldnt surprise me if the same happened in the west indies.
