Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) hit back at third-party presidential hopeful Cornel West, after West knocked the prominent progressive for backing President Joe Biden in the 2024 election.

Some politicians are so fearful of former President Donald Trump retaking the White House that “they don’t really want to tell the full truth,” West said. “[Biden has] created the best economy that we can get. Is this the best that we can get? You don’t tell that lie to the people just for Biden to win,” West said in a clip played on CNN Sunday.

And while Sanders said he agrees it “certainly is not” the best economy the U.S. could create, he called on progressives to coalesce around Biden.


“Where I disagree with my good friend, Cornel West, is I think in these really very difficult times, where there is a real question whether democracy is going to remain in the United States of America. … I think we’ve got to bring the entire progressive community to defeat Trump or whoever the Republican nominee will be, [and] support Biden,” Sanders said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

However, progressives still must “demand that the Democratic Party, not just Biden, have the guts to take on corporate greed and the massive levels of income and wealth inequality that we see today,” Sanders added.

You have to stop engaging with a person whose entire position is academic and operates under the fact that he isn’t living in this country and if it fails he can move his family to his wife’s home country

I've been working overseas for several months, since I run programs both in the USA and internationally. Before that there have been times when I've worked overseas for years. Is that supposed to discredit me somehow? I'm still an American citizen and will be back in the USA a few months from now, and with the stuff I'm setting into motion now I probably won't have to have another overseas work trip for quite some time.

It's amazing that you note I actually have profound real-world experience in seeing how the world works, and then turn around and claim my position is just "academic". Would it be better if I sat in a cubicle or worked from home in some rich neighborhood all day?

What kind of idiotic lie is this? My wife's home country is America where she was born and raised. I wouldn't be able to move overseas permanently any easier than you would, and we have literally zero connection whatsoever anymore to the country her parents immigrated from nearly 50 years ago.

I see you had to fulfill your weekly quota of making up a bald-faced lie about me. And as right-adjacent as you are, not surprised that you pulled the right-wing tactic of pathetically trying to use my wife's ethnicity against me.
