Not dimorphic enough to give credence* to the masculine/feminine dichotomy.
Agree to disagree.
I understand all this, and even agree. Wow.
This I don't understand.
Basically every society has a hierarchy of power necessary for it to function. In our modern world people fail to understand why things are the way they are
I think that's what he's trying to say
THIS!!!
Exactly this!
I find that much of the railing against the way society is organized currently is made ignorant of the factors and history which brought us to this point in the first place.
Historically, people came together in groups because we NEEDED each other to survive.
Groups of people require leadership.
Here is where our most basic models for gov't were born.
Over time, these groups became larger and their governance more complex.
Because resources are limited, groups competed with other groups to establish dominance.
The most successful societies are the ones we see present and flourishing today.
We KNOW they were successful because they're still around today.
History, then, proves that patriarchal societies which put an emphasis on training men to become disposable yet efficient tools of war and women to be homemakers and babymakers (to replace those disposable men), has been the
most effective model for power and social control, to date.
Hence, why patriarchal societies are damn near universal.
They worked.
