The same reason, superficial things like weave, weight and hair t texture matter to women. Its unrealistic for most to keep that lifestyle up
Not everyone is going to be rich let alone middle class. So when women come along talking about they need a man with money power and looks its like what do you bring to the table for such outrageous requirements.

Disregarding how superficial that all sounds why can't women pay for that upkeep themselves?
Most men are satisfied with women with clear skin, clear hygiene, and not being fat.

LisaRaye's entire career is owed to her beauty. She is not a great actress. She was popular for her looks. She capitalized off it.
If LisaRaye was not beautiful she wouldn't have got the roles she got typecasted for. She wouldnt have graced the magazines.
Her appearance has been a significant part of her life. She had to get on diets, have trainers, make sure her skin was right, and so on. It's the sacrifice.
